National Green Day?
I would really like to arrange a 'National Green Day'. No not the American Idiots, but one day this year, where if you don't have a bicycle, then you must walk. No cars are accepted. They are allowed, but driving one would be like lighting up on No Smoking Day. Everyone gives you dirty looks.
There will also be other activities that people will be encouraged to do, all of them green, but that would be the main focus.
Try and get everyone out of their cars and on bikes.
I saw an ad for the Tour De France London, today, and saw everyone biking around on that and I thought it must be impossible to get a traffic jam. There is also the fact that you can have about 5 - 6 people riding side-by-side down a road, as opposed to just one car.

Personally, I think all "National X Days" are fleeting diversions that give a delusion of accomplishment to the few participants. I ignore them.
Why do bicyclists think they are better than everyone else?
Maybe we could have a day where all the stupid greenies stayed home and kept their mouths shut, ah, that would be wonderful.

We already have this day. It's called Earth Day and it's the third Saturday in April. It's been a "day" since the seventies. Check out the website for ideas of how to get involved. Good Luck!
