So called "Carbon Footprint" celebrities?

Can someone explain to me why people in Hollywood cry about carbon footprint, all the while living in mansions, not homes, that use more electricity in one day than I do in a month? I mean seriously how completely arrogant are they and just how stupid do they think the rest of us are. If they actually DID care they would drop the Mansions, live green and donate part of those huge salaries to actual worthwhile studies to produce more green living.

Answer:
The celebs like to be on TV, and being green is a great way to get extra airtime--very in vogue. The entertainment industry is one huge consumer of energy. If these stars were serious about saving the planet, they would shut down the entertainment business as a non-essential part of life. Let's not pick on just Hollywood, however. Al Gore has a huge carbon footprint which he justifies as necessary for his political/environmental work. What a joke. It is just an other example of a socialist telling "the rest of the world" how to live while not following his own advice. George Bush's Texas ranch house is a great example of green living, but, being a Republican, neither he, nor the ranch, will get much press.

All this makes me think of that whole schizophrenic idea of purchasing carbon offsets. A lady wanted to vacation in Europe so was looking at how to buy carbon offsets for her trip. Someone else should sacrifice for her trip? LOL If a person is truly concerned about the environment, he would make radical changes to his lifestyle, not just change his light bulbs, buy a hybrid car, ride a bike to work for one day a year (as a statement, of course), and write letters to the editor about the evils of Big Oil. It is all such a joke.

In Alaska there was a recent gathering of citizens concerned about global warming. They planned a gathering on a local beach to show the world their solidarity for protecting the environment. Well, how did all these people get to the beach? They drove their cars! They would have made a bigger impact and a bigger statement by staying home

Symbolism over substance--again.
That's true, but at least they are calling attention to the issue. Some are less hypocritical than others. I think DiCaprio lives pretty green, from what I've heard.
Simple... because it is Hollywood and they are hypocrits. Do as I say, not as I do.
Why are you lumping everyone in Hollywood together?

"Take the "graywater system" she uses to irrigate the garden at her house. It's sinkwater, bathwater, "water used in runoff," she explained by phone Wednesday afternoon as she prepared to head to an appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live."

Six years ago, Hannah said, she stopped driving cars fueled with petroleum. Now she drives a bio-diesel-powered 1983 El Camino she found on the Internet. Whenever she needs fuel, she orders 55-gallon drums of B-100 bio-fuel, made from recycled grease from fast food restaurants."

Besides which, a lot of people are concerned with greenhouse gas emissions, and the only reason you hear from Hollywood is because they're famous.
Hypocrisy. It's the platform of the left..."Do as I say, not as I do."
