What are some ways to stay cool in the summer?
Answer:
I live in Florida so I know a lot about staying cool in the summer.
One of my favorite ways is to get a slip and slide out on the lawn, it's loads of fun and you stay cool.
Water is really important, I can't tell you how many times I have seen tourists rushed to the hospital for heat stroke or dehydration.
Sometimes I put a couple ice cubes in a zip lock bag and carry them around with me. Just holding on to the ice cools you down. Also, if you get a wash cloth or dish towel wet and stick it in the freezer for a while, you can rub yourself down with it, another one of my favorites.
Swimming is also pretty fun and a good way to cool down. That means the pool or beach. Wear sunscreen though :)
>bring a hat
>stay in the shade
>put on sunscreen
>go to an emergency A/C room(exists in canada, a huge room with A/C where people spend their time in HUMIDx weather)
>drink LOTS(of gallons/litres) of water
Swim in a pool.
The best way is to get some buckets of water, cool water, obviously not a hard thing to do.
Then stick your arms in them, and just relax.
The veins in your arms are close to the surface, so the water will cool your blood by removing the heat, and as the blood courses through your body, it'll lower your body temperature.
You can get chairs that do this somewhere, because they make them for firefighters to avoid heat stroke when fighting a fire, after the fire they lay back in these chairs with their forearms submerged to cool off fast.
Other than that, the usual, wear light colours, hats, keep hydrated and out of the sun. Go to the beach and swim when you're warm.
Enjoy it, it's important, but know your limits.
In Amadavad (Gujarat, India) I have been walked on the streets for hours in 44 deg. C. The secret is "chhaas" or buttermilk. Have buttermilk with 50% to 60% of water upto 5lts. per day. It is the best thing to have to mar the heat and sun-stroke.
go swimming, sleep during hot hours of the day
Go to places that are a/c'd -- libraries, malls, visit hospitals and volunteer
Relax -- great days ahead
Go to your nearest pool and jump in.
Sippin lemonade or ice tea in a hammock under the shade tree listening to the crickets...
