If Microsoft care about the environment so much?

Why is it that it seems that every time they bring out a new operating system people have to go and buy new computers/parts to make things work. Mean wile the not that oldish hardware has to end up in landfill sites/etc.?
A computer just over one year old need a newer graphics card so old one in bin.
More memory so more resources used?

Answer:
Especially as all those transparency and 3D effects work on my medium spec linux box with no problems at all.

May I recommend Ubuntu?
True wonder if there is some way for these parts to be recycled or re used. I won't be getting Vista for while. I usually wait a few yrs for them to get the bugs out. Think their operating system get bigger, use more memory, Ram, processor speed etc. I got XP with the Vista skin and transparent affect.
Like any company, environmentally conscious or not, they are in business to make money. If Microsoft wasn't looking to constantly advance in technology and try to be innovative, we wouldn't have luxuries like "FunQA.com".
Microsoft only cares about Microsoft and the stockholders share of the profits..sorry!

But you all can make a difference, by joining your local Freecycle.org group!! there you can recycle and find things! It is all free and it keeps good things out of our landfills!!
they now have where you can recycle your old parts and get cash from your old computer =] I already got rid of 14 comps/laptops =]
