Every year for every shark that has killed a human, untold millions of sharks are killed...?
Another question: When will the maritime authorities step up to the plate and strictly enforce, with severe penalties and
fines, laws that should already be firmly in place to stop this disaster?
Answer:
Yes, it's pretty sad. But it wont' stop as long as human greed and selfishness endures...
Someone mentioned, "Sharks kill humans for food!" Haha! Ummmm...no they don't. Sadly, I've heard this misconception far too often. It's people who like to eat shark (or their fins, anyway). Most sharks don't like to eat people...we must taste bad. That's why people who die from shark attacks are rarely eaten. They are bitten, and when the shark realized it's bit something it doesn't want to eat (a disgusting human and not a tasty seal), it lets go...and the victim bleeds profusely. Blood loss and tissue damage is what usually kills shark attack victims, NOT being consumed by the shark itself.
Sharks aren't as dangerous as the media would like us to think they are. Every year in the USA there are more deaths from bee stings than from shark attacks! There are hundreds of species of sharks, and only a handful that are dangerous to humans. In fact, I see little sharks all the time when I go surfing. They are wimps; they are very skittish and do anything to get out of the way. Sea lions scare me more than the sharks.
Anyhow, if you're interested in sharks, conservation, and all that, here's a great site you might be interested in:

Enjoy.
you could add this on with
chickens
cows
pigs
sheep
turtles
frogs
turkeys
fish
these animals have been treated horrific and terrible by humans just for food
The problem is that much of the worlds ocean is beyond the economic exclusion zone and therefore beyond the power of any country to control thus until this zone is policed no animal or habitat will be safe from exploitation
And sharks kill humans for food when they have millions of fish in the sea..
I hope you're vegetarian, b/c you never said anything about cows, pigs, chicken.
I'm a vegetarian.
... while millions more sharks swim about totally ignoring all that and simply looking for their next meal, whether human, shark bodies thrown overboard without fins, or whatever.
And FYI, it's the Japanese that enjoy shark fin soup. Chinese eat rice, lots and lots of rice, or if they live in cities, occasionally Kentucky Fried Chicken or McDonald's, with rice on the side.
No one can control fishing practices outside their own countries boundaries, and most can't control them within their boundaries. Just because a government recognises the problem of overfishing doesn't mean it can control poaching.
But "responsible" governments can refuse to buy products from those countries in protest ... so can you. Don't buy Japanese or Chinese goods if you don't support their environmental practices.
Did you ever see jaws, I hope the kill every single one, till there is none except what is in an aquarium or a museums. all, everyone. dead. Get it?
