Global warming?
Answer:
yeah...let them worry about it
Well, relying on that would mean that you wouldn't have to change your lifestyle, wouldn't it?
Would a bit of recycling and care about using resources hurt that much?
Yes. I agree with you, but we still should help a little.
Who knows but think they will be mad the mess we left them...As well as Global warming having big consequences, some say Earths gone slightly off its Polar Axis ...Dont think anybody knows yet for sure what to do..Especially when americans have blocked environmental control progress.
We shouldn't leave it to our children and, if we leave it to our grandchildren, it may already be too late. I am one small person but I try to be enviromentally friendly and hope that the government continue to tackle climate change. The desperate floods we have had in the UK, during June and July are a sure indicator of climate change and very scary.
I dont think we should be so selfish as to rely on that. W need to do more now
Kids these days are too plugged into their cellphones and Ipods to come up with a new idea.
So maybe an environmental wake up call is in order, if they ever see it coming.
Yes, because we are going to start it so when they grow up it will be "normal"
Global warming is here and now. You and I need to come up with these answers and start to implement direct solutions so that the next generation will be able to survive our mistakes. The billions of cars, the bombings in Iraq, The oil fields being set on fire, these are all things that we are responsible for and add to global warming. So why should your grandchildren need to deal with it.We need to start planting aquariums for oxygen and assist in changing what we are destroying our the next generation could be a questionable thing!!
Write your congress men find solutions, get educated, find out what you can do personally to assist in direct method. If everyone did atleast one thing to implement a direct change we would stand a better chance to succeed against the mistakes we have created in our quest to be convenienced we are destroying the atmosphere. In the quest to be right we are destroying our planet because of war.
They won't need to. By then they'll have the intelligence to realise that global warming (and cooling) is a natural phenomenon which cycles approximately every 200 years.
no
No, As "Global warming" is a natural phenomena they have nothing to worry about. I can remember back in the early seventies being told that the earth temperature would drop by 8/10 degrees by the year 2010 it was a load of crap then and is a load of crap now
I don't think it will be a problem for them so there will be no need to find a "solution." There is limited evidence that global warming is happening, and even less information about what drives temperture change. Until we know what is happening and what is driving it, there is nothing we can do.
As of now, the main result of "global warming" has been to sell newspapers, magazines, and movie tickets. This is the same result that "nuclear winter" had about twenty years ago. And I know what is going to be said -- "nuclear winter was a fad driven be people who didn't know better, this is a real concern.
*snicker
I believe we can solve our source, energy, and environmental problems today. But for that to happen we need to be intelligent. Blaming CO2 for our environmental problems will only create a world much worse for our children's children.
We need to tackle real problems like developing clean energy (no, not energy that doesn't emit CO2) the reforestation of most of the world (which we can do if we have energy) the capacity to give clean water to all people (which can be done if we have energy) the capacity to have sewage systems (which require energy) and to feed all people (which requires energy) and bring higher standards of living to all the worlds populations (which requires energy) and prevent pollution and have clean air (which requires energy) and developer sustainable living conditions for a growing population (which requires energy) and space exploration (which requires energy) and the study of better and more efficient technology (which requires energy) and the list goes on...
If we kill our future with a carbon market, we increase the problems of our future generations.
The biggest CO2 producers can afford carbon offsetting and DuPont chemical solutions to increase the amount of carbon credits they have. Meanwhile developing countries will have to live below standard and are dependent on rich oil companies and developed countries to buy carbon credits from if they are ever going to solve any of their problems. It's like having a noose tied to their necks. The rich will live well, but poor hospitals will need to buy carbon credits from big oil companies just to survive. This is already happening in the UK!
Someday you'll see that what I am saying is all true. I've been around long enough to know what's bs and what isn't.
Well that depends on what we do, but if we don't take significant action to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions then no, our children and grandchildren will have virtually no chance to solve the problem.
This is because at a certain point feedbacks start to contribute to global warming. For example, CO2 becomes less soluble in warmer water, so once the oceans reach a certain temperature they start emitting more CO2 than they absorb. More emissions = hotter temps = more emissions = hotter temps etc. etc.
Another one is that ice reflects sunlight while dark oceans absorb it, so less ice = less reflectivity and more aborption = hotter temps = less ice = hotter temps, etc. etc.
Another is that large amounts of carbon and methane are trapped in the permafrost, so as this melts the greenhouse gases will be released. Again more greenhouse gases released = hotter temps = more permafrost melt = hotter temps yet = more melt etc. etc.

Once these and other feedbacks are triggered, there's little we'll be able to do to slow global warming. Projections are that the tipping point is around 2-3°C warmer than it is now, and we're committed to nearly 2°C warming already. So by the time our children and grandchildren have to face the problem, there may be nothing they can do about it. Unless we start to take action and significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions within the next decade or so. Then they'll have a good shot at avoiding the worst effects of global climate change.
If Its as bad as some people say it may be to late for your grand children to do anything
If we don't do something about it now, there will be nothing for our children and grandchildren to fix.
who knows? its also the amount of vehicles and aeroplanes' that flying around, it is getting very bad now.
Global action of any sort should be well thought through. We can just as easily pursue a solution that hinders our ability to solve the perceived problem, makes it worse, or create even more problems.
I'm sorry, but parents wanting to be able to tell their children, "oh well, at least we tried," will not cut it. The knee-jerk reactions to every real or imagined weather blip and the frenzy for the instant/microwavable solution smacks of global attention-deficit. There's a certain conceit and selfishness that begs to make a difference - any difference - no matter how ill-advised.
But what the heck, having solved EVERY OTHER WORLD PROBLEM with such aplomb, I'm game for solving a problem of uncertain existence and even more uncertain consequence.
Probably not, because I've been hearing that ever since I was a child - every generation prays that the one following will have the knowledge and will to save us/Earth from some kind of threat, but we don't seem to manage it. My generation was supposed to have been the great hope that saved the forests and endangered species, but sadly we haven't despite our efforts, and I've learnt that it's all because of commercial greed and political greed for power - no matter what ordinary people do there is always at least one person right at the top with the interest not to do the 'right thing', because their motivation is greed for money/power in their own lifetime.
i would say the chances are there . but they will need something to boost up their awareness because most of the young generations now tend to be selfish.
I am an eco rep at my school. We dicussed this at our last meeting and we think they will.
