The Woods Are Great Aren't They?

I just spent about 2 hours in a forest preserve near my house and i haven't felt this great in a long time. I feel relaxed, no stress at all, no worries, nothing. Just sitting around, alone, near a stream, in the middle of the woods really helps you put things into perspective, doesn't it?

Answer:
You have just stated why it's so important to have nature preserves. People need the revitalizing effects of the slower pace of nature and connection with earth. Until you get away from it, it's hard to realize how much noise we live with all the time, the 60-cycle hum of electric devices, the car alarms, the sound of fans, vents, phones, people talking on phones, roar of traffic, etc. It seems very quiet in the woods, even though there is actually quite a bit going on, between the bird calls, the wind in the leaves, the gurgle of that stream near you, the whirr of crickets and the chatter of frogs. You are fortunate to have this resource near you. It makes a difference in your emotional balance and your overall health. Spread the word!
I totally agree! One of my FAVE things to do is go up into the mountans (or any place that is far separate from the normal rush of every day life) and just sit. I think its teh only way at times to calm myself after a long hard week or if I'm trying to prepare for something really stressfull. I love nature. Wish there was more of it still!
yup yup
yes i love the peace and relaxation i get from them too
Yea, it's nice to just sit in a quiet, relaxing place in the woods, especially near a stream where you can hear the sounds of nature and the water. There's a natural rock chair-type thing in the woods that I sit back in and just close my eyes.
yes. that is a great way to escape from everyday stress. definitely, there's something about woods.
Absolutely, now if I could just find the time to do it, without the worry of lyme diease or west nile virus.
its a beautiful place.
a little wacki tobacci wouldn't hurt either.
wow its great to know I'm not the only person that feels that way. me and my family goes camping a lot in the summer . and you are right there's is no other peaceful feeling that you get when you are out in the woods.i like to leave all of my problems and stress back at home...at night when the sun goes down i like to lay under my tent and look up at the stars..it is soooo beautiful being surrounded by nature. i love it
