Need to know the best way to get an environmental job in Alaska?

Answer:
Hello! I currently live in Alaska - and am getting my master's degree in tourism, with a concentration on environmenta/sustainable development - and I would also love to get an answer for the question you posed!

However, from my own personal experience and research, here's where you could start.

For environmental engineering-type jobs:
http://www.alaska.edu/uaf/cem/cee/...

The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) has a great focus on engineering and they have a very good environmental engineering program. Start at that website!

For state environmental jobs, I would check out:
http://www.dec.state.ak.us/eh/index.htm...

This is the State of Alaska's Environmental Conservation Department.

For tourism-related state jobs, I would go to:
http://www.dced.state.ak.us/oed/toubus/h...

This will bring you to the Office of Tourism Development, where you can access links to Economic, Fisheries, Tourism and Mining Development.

Lastly, for military-related environmental work, try:
http://www.poa.usace.army.mil/hm/default...

This is the site for the Army Corp of Engineers, Alaska branch.

GOOD LUCK!!
Research the jobs available. Apply for the jobs you are interested in and somewhat qualified for. Provide all necessary information and references. Be sure to follow-up with phone calls, a visit and commitment to live there.

Not so much different than applying for a job elsewhere.

Use the Alaska Dept of labor website--or search "Alaska jobs + environment."
That's a pretty broad question. Depending on what you consider an "environmental job," the answer could be anywhere between "just ask," and "Give up!"

Tourism, including environmental tourism is really big in Alaska. Try looking for work in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Anchorage. The pay will be low, however, especially considering the cost of living up there.

Higher end work will probably involve getting college degrees in environmental studies, biology, zoology, botany, or oceanography. You'll probably have to study for several years, and work for little or no money on an internship.

Good luck!
I live in AK and there are plenty of areas where environmental jobs are to be found. As the others have stated try the tourism industry, the fishing industry, the flying industry, the oil industry, or the USA or State goverment. Best of luck to you.
