Can the Global Warming hysteria get any worse?
I thought I'd seen the worst example of this when I discovered a website peddling for a "Climate Genocide Criminal Prosecutions Bill".
http://www.climatecriminals.co.uk/#aim...
Apparently not. Today I found this ridiculous climate change 'survival guide', complete with instructions on how to replicate Noah's Ark.

Has anyone else found climate garbage around that rivals this stuff on the scale of grand human stupidity?
Answer:
Yes, we'll find out in October just how far this lunacy will go...

Oh, definitely I have.yikes...this one scares the living day lights out of me because I can't believe people can be this ignorant...
Sure. It's called "The Great Global Warming Swindle.
See this for why:

And, is a worldwide economic Depression because of the cost of dealing with unreduced global warming (coastal flooding, damage to agriculture, etc.) "low on the agenda"?

Yes, the stuff you found is over the top. But serious people know what's at stake here:

The page takes a little while to load.
What? Global warming is about .01 deg C per year. We don't know for sure if it is due to our CO2 production yet. Much of the data used to come up with this theory is still in question. It is only a theory at this point. Some scientists have data that shows no increase, or even cooling. Lets get real.
Any level headed person would not use fringe non-information to fight Global Warming science.
If you want to talk grand stupidity please address religion.

Nice link Bob. "The Business Roundtable, which represents 160 chief executives of leading U.S. companies" and "is an association of CEOs of major corporations, representing a combined work force of more than 10 million employees and $4.5 trillion in annual revenues", says that "its members agree that reducing the amount of carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere should be a top priority". "Its members include major energy companies including Exxon Mobil Corp. (nyse: XOM - news - people ), Peabody Energy (nyse: BTU - news - people ) Co., the country's largest coal producer".
Nice to see some changes being made.
I am thinking there is lots of room for more hysteria. It is pretty bad right now as you point out and that is with only the smallest tip of the Global-Warming-Consequences iceberg being glimpsed, no pun intended. You see 50-100 years from now when GW is in rip roaring full swing I am guessing hysteria will really start to kick in. With sea levels up a few feet flooding hundreds of millions, and with most of the worlds current agricultural lands converted to desert, and with vast numbers of people without drinking water, and with hurricanes hitting a major US Atlantic city every couple of years, I am thinking hysteria might become the norm.
I agree with you completely: Ignoring climate change most certainly qualifies as the all-time top of the grand human stupidity scale.
Do you honesttly think it's to be taken seriously when someone encourages you to establish your own menagerie of animals in your back garden consisting of pandas, tigers, polar bears and penguins?
Or that a fringe website calling for the death penalty and sequestration of the family assets of people who don't tow the line is serious?
A reality check is needed.
This one tops them all
Unfortunately the ridiculous media exaggeration and hyperbole detracts from the very good science that has been done on this subject.
According to the best estimates we would have to reduce world wide carbon dioxide emissions to less than one tenth of what they are today if we are to have any chance of stopping Global Warming.
In order to get reductions that large we would have to shut down the economies of all of the countries in the world.
You will never get the voluntary cooperation of all of the countries of the world to accomplish that, and if you did you would cause a world wide depression far worse than anything that we experienced in the 1930's.
To get reductions of carbon dioxide to less than one tenth of what they are today you would have to ban all motorized forms of transportation. That is you would have to ban all automobiles, motorscooters, motorcycles, buses, trucks, trains, planes and shipping.
Next you would have to ban the heating and air conditioning of all homes, facories and offices.
Next you would have to ban the use of all fossil fuel to generate electricity.
Next you would have to ban all manufacturing including steel making, and cement making.
Next you would have to ban the heating of all water for washing and bathing.
We would have to learn to bathe in cold water.
We would have to get the cooperation of all of the countries in the world on this issue.
Unfortunately The People's Republic of China is very emphatic that they will not reduce their use of fossil fuels and in fact they will increase their use of fossil fuels and the consequent carbon dioxide emissions.
The People's Republic of China alone emits enough carbon dioxide on its own to cause Global Warming, even if you were to get 100% reductions in carbon dioxide emissions from every other country on this planet.
We will not be able to get enough cooperation world wide to get anywhere near the reductions in carbon dioxide emissions that we need to stop Global Warming.
Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now..
The sea levels will rise.
Fortunately coastal areas can be protected from flooding by dike systems similar to those in Holland to hold back the sea.
Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We will need to help the poor countries upgrade their disaster preparedness programs.
Droughts will become more frequent. We will need to thelp the poor countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.
We cannot stop global Warming without causing a world wide depression and possibly a world war. Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now.
You bet it can. Never underestimate how hysterical people can get. They can even get so hysterical that they will hijack an airliner full of people and crash it into a tall building full of other people, killing themselves and all those people.
sure..
we got so many morons who believe all that crap
and are brainwashed into thinking American is evil
sure glad im retiring soon... get me the hell away from
idiots ..
and a note for you environmental boo hooers..
we couldn't screw up this planet if we tried..
mother nature does more damage to herself in year
then us puny humans have in the total time we have walked on her
Stupid Al Gore is making a big deal of it.
By Gore being a so-called spokesperson for global warming, it's adding fuel to the fire of the Gore followers.
Let nature take it's course. Not even the all powerful Gore can change nature. The earth has been changing for 6,000 yrs, It's people like Gore who get people worked up about it.
Let nature take it's course, nothing we can do about it.
