Would a house shaped as a pyramid be environmentally friendly? Why? Comfortable?
Answer:
A pyramid shaped house-- is likely to provide even exposure to sunlight, rain, winds, etal-- hence provide ample natural elements to each floor. Thus helping conserve electricity and fuel.
As someone earlier said-- the roof top rain water to the surroundings would come evenly and with reduced impact.-- thus conserving soils around.
sure, it's your pyramid, and you can build it however you wish ! I would like to build one that is circular !
worked for the Egyptians and they will stand the test of time
yes if you have the right materials like solar panels etc
Yes, a pyramid house would support the environment around it. Houses with completely vertical sides can only support climbing greenery like ivy, and the gutters only provide rainwater to small areas, either washing the topsoil away or making those spaces the only supplied with water. a Pyramid would evenly distribute rainwater around it and allow surrounding vegetation to get more sunlight. As to comfort, I have no idea.
I have been in a pyramid-shaped house. It was beautiful and the layout was amazing. The owner (who also built it) built it on top of a garage. The first floor had a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. The second floor was an office and meditation room.
The shape of a house has nothing to do with its 'environmental friendliness' OR its comfort. You need to be more concerned with what it is made of, and its internal design.
As that dude above said, I forgot his name lol, its more the material, but, it doesn't provide much shade, there fore wouldn't be engery efficieny, in summer, so that's partially n answer, I guess :)
Why would a pyramid shaped house be more environmentally friendly or comfortable? If you are taking your inspiration from Eygpt as far as building construction is concerned I consider that a pyramid has been particularly designed for preserving the dead not intended for the living.
Low impact building like the Japanese Dome in the Youtube clip offer a much cheaper, environmentally friendly and energy efficient home. Offering low surface area to volume ratio.

A triangle is the strongest shape in math or physics, it is an excellent shape to make an environmentally friendly home. It will get more even lighting on all four sides, it is structurally more able to take the rigors of bad weather so materials will not have to be wasted rebuilding as often. Comfort is a matter of interior design, which is not dependant on structural design.
