Can a tree branch that fell behind my ac unit root and start to grow?
Answer:
Depends upon the type of tree it is.
Some can, most don't.
what kind of tree is it??NEED MORE INFORMATION????? IF IT'S A PALM TREE YES IT CAN
Yes, absolutly!
If the branch is from a quick or easy rooting tree then it is quite possible that it will root if climatic conditions are right .Keep an eye on the branch,if it strikes root & the spot is inconvenient for it to grown into a tree ,it can easily be moved, since roots will be superficial, have ready a good sized pit filled with top soil & manure, lift the rooted branch & transfer without delay into this pit, firm down well, water well but with care, large heavy branch will need a stake for support.
The majority of branches do not root with ease.I have several varieties of palm trees, none are branched but have straight upright trunks & the majority are raised from seed.
some tree limbs can and others cant. Some species of trees regenerate that way ,But some regenerate with nuts and fruit.
There are a few species that can, like willows, but probably not. Best to remove it anyway, it's a fire hazard and will provide habitat for critters you might not want living up against your house.
