Murray-Darling River Basin Salinity Problem??
Even though lots of commisions, studies has been undertaken by government, organisations and universities, some of the steps are working, some aren't - but the problem is growing with increase in ground water level.
I did a small study research project on it many years ago - at that time I was novice about this subject - but today I, like others understand the potential risk it poses to economy and especially the environment in this basin. Real estate prices has been dropped in South Australia & Victoria - environment is slowly dying out - what should we do about it?

Answer:
nothing can be done. like global warming it cant be stopped
One thing you can do is stop the leaky faucets or toilets. I was just in australia for a month and I was amazed that everyone was talking about all this drought and yet almost every hotel room i stayed in had a leaky faucet, toilet or both! I MEAN EVERY ONE! It was outrageous!
I saw an ad somewhere for a plumber and I was again utterly surprised at how expensive it was to get leaky faucets and toilets fixed! The first thing I would do if I was in Australian government would be to pay to make it easy for people to get their leaky faucets fixed for free and make it as easy as possible for people to fix them.
A leaking toilet loses 400 litres per day and a faucet loses 5000 litres per year.
Increase freshwater flow rates into the basin. Slow the rate of use of exiting water supplies to generate anet gain in freshwater flow.
Yes I Believe So!
