How do you stop a porcupine from eating the siding and wood off of your house?
How can I stop this critter before he gets in the cabin.
Answer:
Try shooting it in the face.
Actually, I did find an article about controlling porcupines here: http://www.bugspray.com/articles99/porcu...
It recommends using a product called "Ropel" to keep them away.

Double Barreled Shotgun
shoot it
pick him up with a sheet. carry him away.
Try spraying some Off around the cabin. May work.
A .22LR to the head should take care of the problem.
Shoot that sucker before he eats your cabin to the ground.
Human urine is supposed to be a deterent. Also available are various products, one of which is called "Porcupine Away" Shooting a pocupine is difficult and trapping them nearly impossible. Another altternitive may be to hire a pro to take care of this critter by trapping. Good Luck.
Place a commercial salt lick block away rom the cabin. Porcupines like salty stuff and often gnaw on the timber because it has been treated with various substances.
Spray exterior with porcupine repellent that is recommended as being green. Do not use creosote as this is a danger to our environment.
At this point I would consider putting three feet high aluminum up all the way around the base of the cabin. I have heard animals do not like the taste of vanilla you might try that too, in the mean time.
I give up, how do you stop a porcupine from eating the siding and wood off of your house?
What's the punchline?
What you need is some predator urine. You spray it on and around your house and it repels the pests, squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, porcupines etc...
You can also buy it online. You don't need to kill the animal to fix the problem.
I THINK YOU CAN SPREAD MOTH BALLS
Shotgun
Here's a site detailing porcupine control methods:
http://www.unitedwildlife.com/animalspor...
also, check with your local Animal Control; most local animal control will bring traps to your site and release the critters back into the wild far from your site... and it's a free service in most cities...
Kill the thing. They aren't endangered.
A commericial salt lick block works well because they have a hihg appetite for salt. The reason they are eating the board off the side of your house has something to do with the glue used in making plywood. Good luck!
Try setting some live humane traps around the cabin with pieces of salt block in them then relocate the little feller far away from the cabin. You don't have to hurt him.
