Is Dr. James Hansen a Fraud because he took $250,000.00 to Endorse John Kerry's Presidential Campaign?

Can a scientist be neutral in politics while remaining objective to the data if they take a cool quarter of a million dollars from a candidates political campaign, then endorse that candidate while saying that he has the best environmental plan?

Doesn't Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars skew one's objectivity?

How much does it take to buy science these days?

Answer:
Yes
This is simply an outrageous lie.

The fundamental thing to realize about Hansen is that he started talking to Congress about the truth of global warming in 1988. His bosses at the time made it clear to him they were displeased with his work. They muzzled him and abused him at every turn.

"In 1988 Hansen made the greenhouse effect world news when he told a Senate committee, "The greenhouse effect has been detected, and it is changing our climate now." In the uproar that followed, Hansen got tremendous heat from industry, anti-enviro talk show hosts, and politicians, as well as from many fellow scientists. "

For years he labored under this abuse. In recognition of his years of steadfast work on science, undeterred by political abuse, he received an award. Big deal.

If he was working on this in those circumstances for over 15 years (which works out to about $15,000 a year) just to get this award, he's got supernatural intelligence and you should definitely listen to him.
Just because you are a fraud, don't assume everyone else is as well.

Yep, you are all 3 (see link)
Well, let's see. Back in 1988, Hansen correctly predicted temperatures for this year.

In 2001 -- long before anybody knew John Kerry's name -- Hansen was given a Heinz award for his PAST research. He was chosen by an independent committee.

In 2004, Hansen -- a registered independent -- expressed his support for John McCain's candidacy, based on McCain's views on campaign finance reform, and that global warming should be given a higher priority. When McCain was not nominated by the GOP, independent Hansen was asked by a reporter who he was going to vote for now that McCain was out of the race, and Hansen said Kerry. Since Bush's policy on Global Warming has been "fuggeddaboudit" since day 1, this was hardly surprising.

So here's my question to Mr. Jello: if Hansen was bought and paid for by Kerry, why did he endorse McCain?

If Hansen is not a credible scientist, why have his temperature predictions turned out to be true?
ExxonMobil gives HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars to "scientists" who make statements about global warming being fake.

And I'm confused... Dr. Hansen gave money to John Kerry? How does giving money away influence the donor? John Kerry was the person RECIEVING the money, right? I guess I don't follow your logic. If Kerry had given the scientist $250,000 (like the oil companies to do GW skeptics) then maybe you'd be on to something.

Also, when was the last time John Kerry said or did anything of significance on Global Warming?
I hope you feel good and embarassed, Jello. An ad hominem attack that wasn't even remotely true.

Nice job setting him straight, Bob and Keith.
