How much hydrogen does a car engine need to run?

Car engines can be converted to run on hydrogen but does anyone know where I can find out how much i.e. cubic centimeters, inches, feet of hydrogen gas would typically be required to run a car engine?

Answer:
The A/F ratio of hydrogen is 34:1 vs gasoline 14.7:1

Hydrogen burns in mixtures from 4% to 74% and therefore hydrogen can burn as lean as 180:1

You'll have to determine the amount of fuel mix from these ratios based on your own cylinder information.

Another way to look at this is to evaluate the Btu content in a gallon of gas approx. 122000 Btu. You need 382scf of hydrogen to have the equivalent Btu energy that a gallon of gas has. This term is the GGE(gallon of gas equivalent).
Look at the formula of water H2O. That says 2 parts H and 1 part O .. Be very careful hydrogen has a very small atom and can leak through almost anything. If u put in the turtle and leak a small amount ,if it is ignited ,it could blow u into next week.
Hydrogen has much less energy than gasoline. There is more hydrogen in a gallon of gasoline than in a gallon of liquid hydrogen.
Hydrogen 119.9 MJ/kg
Petrol 41.2 MJ/kg
Diesel 42.9 MJ/kg

Or about 0.35 times the weight

Liquid hydrogen (-253C) 8.9 MJ/L
Petrol 31.0 MJ/L
Diesel 36.1 MJ/L

Or about 3.6 times on volume (assuming it can be kept liquid)

If as a gas it is only about 90 grams /cubic metre at 100 kpa. (atmospheric pressure) If stored at 15000 kpa you need about 26 times the volume of equivilent fossil fuel tank.

If you keep increasing the pressure you can get it down to 3.6 times the volume. That is going be a very hefty fuel tank. Or you could shorten the vehicles operating range significantly.

have a look at this sight. i think everyone who is serious about the environment. will find this interesting.type in search.

there is a lot of info on hydrogen.
remember the big boys don't want you to invent something that produces it's own energy.they have us to believe that hydrogen is to expensive to produce, compared to fossil fuel.
