Riddle me this: In what sense is planned parenthood an environmental organization?

"Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being. We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual's right to privacy. We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life, strong family relationships, and population stability."

Answer:
Overpopulation is the most serious problem we have, it is the root cause of many global environmental problems. I agree with that wholeheartedly.

Though I am not convinced that, especially in the area of human sexuality, self-determination will lead to any population stability or enhancement of qualilty of life. Self determination in no way implies self control.

In addition, in a world where first world nations like Canada consider paying people to have more children to increase the tax base is there really any "self" determination to begin with. Can sexual responsibility compete with a government cheque?
They are the self-given Darwin award.

They are how people voluntarily remove themselves in part from the gene pool.

They are trying to help the evolution of the species using volunteerism, and the local equivalent of a lolly pop - a cheap short term prize, like quality of life, or money.
You just answered it your self...
I think that is a bit of a stretch.
If Planned Parenthood can abort enough people before they are born, then there will be fewer people to add to the creation of greenhouse gasses and other environmentally dangerous waste products.
THAT is their contribution to the environment!
They reduce human population by killing babies. less people = less use of resources. And most of the poor people are just taking up space and are pretty useless in the big scheme of things... In fact it would be even better to introduced a virus to kill of 9/10ths of the human race...
Not my idea but it has actually been proposed.
