Should we control pollution anyway?

I'm not an AGW believer, never have been. (I actually LISTENED to Carl Sagan). But do any of the "skeptics" out there think we need to control pollution and find new fuel resources anyway? Seems to me that there are cheaper alternatives out there than oil and they will produce less pollution.

Also, to the AGW believers. Do you honestly believe that we "skeptics" think that pollution control is a bad thing and all we care about is money?

Answer:
No...Not unless you're a republican. Republicans ARE about money & greed & everything in between.

If you cared about money, you would try to cut corners to save money & the environment...So by not caring about the environment, you care nothing about money.

I just believe that some "skeptics" are too scared to admit the fact that we, as a whole society, are killing ourselves. It's a tough thing to admit to.

A lot of "skeptics" don't want to take the time to rinse out that plastic bottle & put it into the recycling bin, and take, yet, ANOTHER bin out to the road.

No offense directly to you...I am just giving my "GREEN" opinion.

My honest opinion is skeptics are lazy & inconsiderate of their neighbors...

Why throw that piece of trash on the ground when you can put it in the trash can...Why can't people give up watching so much t.v, or video games(read a book or go for a walk & pick up trash while you're at it)...Why can't people take their own reusable bags to the grocery store. Why can't people live with out driving around on a Friday or Saturday night-looking for girls/guys...

Why can't people accept the mere fact that every little bit counts...AND...DOES help our environment. If you are a skeptic of global warming, pollution, greenhouse gasses, energy saving appliances or whatever it may be, then atleast take care of the one thing that we've got as a whole...our earth.

I don't care how many skeptics talk garbage about what I am saying...You know it's the truth...you know pollution is bad...you know that you can help...you know that there are things we can do to prevent FURTHER global warming. So get off of your lazy soap box & help out. I really don't feel like breathing, drinking & seeing anymore of your stinkin' pollution.

My husband & I do so much for this environment(I know there are more out there like us), and it would be nice to see more get on board the "green" wagon & help out. It's not hard...Look through some of the questions & answers here on FunQA.com, you will come up with things that you can do that your lame friends won't even notice...that way you don't have to worry about appearing "uncool" , BUT you will be doing a small part in helping to prevent further global warming.Get over yourselves & stop denying the fact that pollution & so much more is causing global warming. Sure, it's not like we're going to wake up tomorrow & be hotter than hell, but it's a gradual process that will wind up getting the best of us...if we don't start taking action & doing our part.

By the way...It doesn't sound like you're a complete skeptic...
all i can say to that is
DOES A BEAR POOP IN THE WOODS
I believe the skeptics ignore the science, much as believers in a 6000 year old Earth.

99+% of scientists around the world believe it _has_ been proven that global warming is real and mostly caused by us.

And any number of very distinguished people, too.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the "extraordinary evidence" (I read Sagan too), the peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long. Those wanting proof can go to a college library and read the scientific articles referenced within.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Global cooling was never a big deal. Just a few guys with theories and no data. No backing from any major scientific organizations. Much like the skeptics today. More here:

Well what happened to GLOBAL COOLING of the 1970's is all I'd like to know?
global warming is a fact ... it is here and now ... next question is whether it becomes better or worse ... controlling pollution will make it better ...
Pollution such as controlling sulfur compounds and toxic waste should and could be controlled.
Domestic energy should and could be researched and developed.

CO2 is not a pollutant at least not scientifically.

We should curb pollution and develop new energy but doing so under the guise of doomsday is not the appropriate way of proceding on the issue.
YES Because if nothings done, we will surfer in the future. I guess people should come up with solution of preventing and controlling the earths pollution and stopping these green house gas polluting our air and environment.
