What do you think about global warming?Could it be stopped?

Answer:

What about Global Cooling? last winter i saw -50 and thats the coldest its ever been here.
According to the IPCC, the International Panel on Climate Change, global warming can be halted but not reversed. In order to halt global warming all processes that produce greenhouse gases (Carbon dioxide, polyfluoral carbonate, methane, etc) would have to cease a year ago. Global Warming is here to stay. Most scientist call it Climate Change because it doesn't always result in warming in all locations of the world. I am an Environmental Regulator working for the Air Quality Department of a County in Phoenix.
You can't stop it... you can only hope to contain it.
Global Warming. It happened! Without man. Should it be stopped? Can it?

The earth warmed up, the mile thick Pleistecone ice sheets receded. Great Lakes were left as the glaciers melted. Man, animals and agriculture flourished in these warmer areas.

The lakes are named Erie, Ontario, Michigan, Huron and Superior. The states of Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and the Country of Canada are no longer ice-covered. It happened 14,000 years ago - long before politicians could blame man.

One wonders if Nancy Pelosi and Al Gore's great-great-great-great--great -grandfathers watched the ice sheets melt an clubbed someone to death for lighting a fire. "Great White Ice melt. You fire people at fault. You melt ice with fire. Put out fire. Ugh." <Clunk>

Hey, that makes more sense than a carbon tax.

Let's be clear - Congress cannot legislate a cooler earth. It can only tax us (that's YOU and I) with Carbon Taxes, higher energy prices, etc. Can you afford to pay at least double for your electric along with your $3.50/gallon gas?
the only think i think about it is that it happens naturally and you can not stop something that happens naturally
not by humans who never seem to change thier ways until it's too late.
Global warming/ Climate change is a very real phenomenon. The rise in CO2 levels cannot be explained by natural phenomenon alone and though the oceans can absorb excess CO2 for a while it cannot do so indefinitely. Also absorbing CO2 causes the water to become more acidic damaging marine life and environments.
The IPCC reports are the best place to go for information. They're an international body and so there is no governmental spin and they are respected members of the scientific community.
Theres plenty of evidence out there but heres a tip for when you're evaluating sources. Look at when papers were published and where. Look at who funded the research and the quality of there references and never take one source to be the gospel truth. If everyone did the same there'd be much less controvesy over the issue.
It can only be slowed right now. But appearantly it costs almost nothing to slow it down to just a 2 degree difference by 2050. Just 0.2% of global GPD appearantly, think of it as 20 cents from $100. Not a lot.

Then if we slow it down, future technology may allow it to be stopped and stabilized altogether.

But if we don't do our part, then the people in the future will have to undo our damage before they can even tackle stopping it. We need to give them the advantage.
A much more dangerous problem is Global Terrorism. Global Warming is a relatively insignificant problem compared with the threat of Global Terrorism, especially when the terrorists get their hands on nuclear weapons, which they will. It is only a matter of time.

When terrorists get their hands on nuclear weapons they will detonate those weapons in United States Cities. When the terorists do this it will make 9/11, Global Warming and all of our other problems look relatively minor in comparison.

The worst case scenario for Global Warming will look like a paradise compared to what the world will become when the terrorists get their hands on nuclear weapons.

When terrorists get nuclear weapons your life will change for the worse in ways that you cannot even imagine.

Yes, we probably cause Global Warming. However that is such an insignificant problem compared with Global Terrorism and the threat we face when terrorists get their hands on nuclear weapons that we should be concentrating our efforts on combatting Global Terrorism and preventing terrorist supporting nations from enriching Uranium for nuclear weapons.

We should not distract ourselves with comparatively insignificant problems such as Global Warming. That just interferes with our ability to combat Global Terrorism, which is the real threat that we face.
No. Humanity played no part is starting it.. and we do not have the ability to counter it.

The IPCC report is a POLITICAL document, not anything even close to a credible scientific study.
I don't worry about global warming. I leave all of my lights, tv, radio, and computer on 24 hours a day. Sometimes I drive around until all of the gas is gone out of my car just to waste gas.
