What can i do with my old monitor? Is there a recycling center where i can go?
Answer:
If you live near a Best Buy or Circuit City store, they will take your old computer equipment for free and properly dispose of it. Most computer or electronics stores offer old equipment disposal services. Some charge, some do it for free. Check around if you want the free service. I know Best Buy and Circuit City are free.
well if it's still good pawn it
You mean a baby monitor? The absolute BEST thing to do with it instead of tossing it in the trash can is eavesdrop on your neighbors by tuning into their frequency! :-)Really - I could write a book on what I've overheard! (And so could my neighbors, I'm sure...)
The only thing I know of is removing the batteries and disposing of them properly according to your local land fill guidelines.
You are supposed to take it to a recycling center, but you can give it away, sell it or trade it. You could post it here or on Craigslist, Lumina News, give it to a school or something, etc. It does cost to recycle at a center though, I am not sure where the recycling center is. Is this a working monitor?
If it still works, don't dump it--give it
away to someone who can use it.
A student perhaps. There are recycling centers in every community. Look in the "recycling" section in your phone book. There are also recycling companies who pay a small amount and then rejuvenate and re-sell. Those are listed in the phone book also, under "recycling".
All waste electronics taken to the tip have to be re-cycled under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment which came into force at the beginning of the month, but you could consider joining your local Freecycle(R) group and giving it away ||||| If you have more than one, consider Bruce Metals, who have the ability to "split" the screen and recycle it best. Whatever you do, do NOT break the screen. This makes it impossible to recycle properly, and releases the sulphur inside.
Best option is to join Freecycle. THis is a worldwide alternative to filling tips with our rubbish. It offers you the chance to find a home for something you no longer need. There is also the chance to recieve things others no longer need or to request the gifting of an item you need.
It's a great little community a real, Grassroots movement of people who are giving and getting stuff for free in their own towns.

You should go into www.freecycle.org its a website that people join and give things away to others that want/need it. don't throw it, Someone will always have it. Its a local thing, so you neighbors might want it!
I know that gateway and several other major computer companies actually pay for old computer and cell phone stuff. I believe you have to have bought a product from them recently to get paid though. They recycle or refurbish the stuff and sell it in other countries as new...j/k. They do recycle though, and they even send you a lable for free shipping. I could see a person actually making a living off of this...
There is a great organisation called Computer Aid International who recycle old computers for others to use. If it is unusable they will dispose of it responsibly. The will collect from your home / office for a small cost (they are a charity). They have a good website www.computeraid.org which explains what you have to do.
You may want check this site out the site below. You can recycle one monitor for free. I've done it a few times but I'd rather give it to them than dump it out. I hope this helps.

Hi,
I need a few monitors. My niece fixes old computers and gives them to children that can't afford computers.
She gets older computers from her job and is always in need of working monitors.
To be on the safe side I'd call 311 - covers all non-emergency city services like garbage pick up. They'll let you know if the monitor can be put out with the regular garbage or if has to be "tagged" first. They can also give you a list of recycling centers in your area. Hope this helps.
