Then our children wouldn't be able to watch TV or play computer games. The only thing they could do for entertainment would be to go to school and learn how to spell.
PS petroleum is produced by the decay of plants - not animals.

Actually, I believe that the earth is no longer *producing* petroleum. All that we have is all that was made millions of years ago. It will run out eventually. Hopefully, by then we will have developed alternate ways of producing the electricity we need and other ways to run our vehicles.
People are working on this right now. But just like water (it always takes the path of least resistance), people take the easiest way out. Right now, that is burning petroleum products.
As a species, we are notorious for not anticipating problems and doing something to ameliorate them in advance. But we sure are good at going nuts when things go wrong and trying to fix problems after the fact.
Pumpernickle was correct in his explanation of petroleum coming from long decayed animals, but he didn't have to call you stupid. Lot's of people don't know where things come from. Actually, we have 150 to 200 years of petroleum left, which is not a long time, especially since we are always consuming more.

I was just reading an article about the fact that everyone needs to learn about alternative energy and recycling, etc, if only b/c there's only a finite amt of fossil fuel/petroleum left anyway.
I'm still in the dark as to why companies don't combine solar and wind energy if one or the others not enough.
It is expected that our fossil fuels i.e. natural gas,petroleum,coal will not last more than next 30 years in this case we can use alternative sources of energy i.e. wind,solar,hydro,geothermal and nuclear energy which are Eco-friendly and more efficient than the present fossil fuels.
