Should we have alternative concepts used to help environment be enforced in more ways?

such as this one?

Answer:
Think of it this way: any time you speak of "enforcement," you are speaking of additional multiple layers of government and the bureaucracy to sustain it, track it, and administer it. We already have more than enough government. No.
Certainly. The use of plastic bags from the market is already banned in some countries (Ireland is one, I believe). To encourage recycling of plastic drink bottles, some states have levied a tax that is rebated when the bottles are brought back for recycling.
In regards to another post: In regards to a governing body, we couldn't have a billion people thinking there ideas are right and implementing them. We need organization when in large numbers and that just the way things need to work. If not it becomes chaotic, the next person thinks they deserve more than the next, ect. ect.

I think that there should be policies put in place to make changes like resuable grocery bags or maybe even giving people an incentive to bring the plastic bags they have used back to be recycled. Making recycling accessable in apartment complexes and a specific day designated for pick up for home owners. I think these things become an issue because of storage and convenience. We need to stop advertising disposable and go back to reusable. It takes a little longer to clean so maybe people will stop being a slave to their possesions if they live simpler lives e.g. over consuming things we don't even have time to take care of. I find it awful when I have spent my day cleaning my toys and not playing with them. Where's the fun in that?

I think we should at first try to let people pick things up on their own e.g. the reusable items but, when that fails we will be left with no other alternatives that to enforce rules that protect us from ourselves. It's awful but, true. I think though, if enough positive advertisment is done, enough people will catch on that it will not be an issue that needs a great deal of enforcement. Just like people buy what's in fashion or by a BMW because it's sophisticated. Being a participant doesn't take much and it can be done in small steps like opening the blinds and turning the inside lights off until it's necessary.
Yes, at least there should be more incentives to conserve the environment, such as competitions ran by local councils, more rebates, and a discount on rates for those who use less than half the average(per household) amount of water for their town.
People get turned off when the term enforced is used. A lot of people are still lazy to recycle. If people have do drive far to recycle stuff like electronics and paint then gasses from the vehicle defeat in the prevention of air pollution.

There are to many laws that are not enforced and it is better to educate.

In my opinion bosses of groups like the Sierra Club do not practice what they preach so how come they do not punish themselves ?
alternative concept = letting the voice of righteousness that is inside of us all govern our thoughts and actions
We need to rethink the way America lives. Source separation in recycling nationwide.
Use full cutoff lighting in all applications- darksky org.
Have all furnaces be 90% + efficient.
Develope hydrogen power to replace coal, uranium, gas.
Use more solar panels.
Run AC at sunrise/ overnight to spread out electric use.
One way we can enforce environmental concepts is through signing petitions such as this one http://www.petitiononline.com/rme4319/...
Yes!
if we enforce using environmentally friendly detergents and soap in our homes, we can direct most of our waste to our backyards and save thousands of gallons of fresh water
