Do whatever you can, such as share car rides, conserve water, especially hot water, conserve energy, just the basics. Small changes add up to a LOT!
Floods are normal so they will always happen.

As for global warming become more aware of your environment and help where you can. Ever little thing adds up.
time to read the news, and time to get up with the latest science reports , and do what you can do
Scientists agree that the burning of fossil fuels is causing global warming. Since these fuels are burned for energy, and everyone uses energy, everyone can help stop global warming just by using less energy.

Think about the things you do each day that use energy. The lights in your house use electricity. The TV and computer use electricity. The washing machine, dishwasher and dryer all use gas or electricity. Every time you ride in your car, it uses gasoline.

There are some very simple things that everyone can do to help stop global warming:

· Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Use fluorescent bulbs in your room.

· Turn off your computer or the TV when you’re not using it. Unplug chargers when not in use.

· Wait until you have a lot of clothes to wash before using the washing machine. Don’t use the machine for one item just because it’s your favorite shirt.

· Take shorter showers. Heating water uses energy.

· Close the blinds on a hot day if the sun is shining in. Dress lightly instead of turning up the air conditioning. Or use a fan.

· Dress warmly when it’s cold, instead of turning up the heat.

· keep the air filters on your AC and furnace clean.

· Walk short distances instead of asking for a ride in a car.

· Plant a tree.
Yep it was a scorcher, was in the 90's here, and I had to stand outside and wait for my sons graduation (parade) to make it down the street.
It took a long time for us to do as much damage as we have and it's going to take a long, time for repair if it can be done.
if each person does what they can and we teach the new ones born from the time they are little it will become a natural way of life, and maybe we'll have hope for a different world for the generations of the future
since man did not do any thing to cause global warming why do you think you can do any thing to stop it
Greenhouse gases thicken the atmosphere which traps infrared(or uv?) light thus increasing the temperature of the earth. Your contribution to greenhouse gases is built in as a consumer and a resident of the United States (United States has a 10% representation but 25% environmental footprint. we consume and use up more natural resources than any other country. If india + china + brazil were to use what we use and waste what we waste on a per person basis , we’d be out of everything real quick)

This means that you can’t effectively contribute in a fight against global warming, since the pollutants are an issue of political arena and greasy men. What you can do is to tell your friends why this should be important to them, so we can have more voters who care! This is important
Check the label on products and make sure they're enviromentally safe. Don't drive your car and take public transportation because of the fuel has a chemical in it . But about the grass thats just the same that happened to my dads grass after its been cut. It grew real tall and then after it was cut it was brown underneath.
Burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and carbon dioxide is a major contributor to the greenhouse effect and global warming.
You can help to reduce the demand for fossil fuels, which in turn reduces global warming, by using energy more wisely. Here are 10 simple actions you can take to help reduce global warming.

1) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Do your part to reduce waste by choosing reusable products instead of disposables. Buying products with minimal packaging (including the economy size when that makes sense for you) will help to reduce waste. And whenever you can, recycle paper, plastic, newspaper, glass and aluminum cans. If there isn’t a recycling program at your workplace, school, or in your community, ask about starting one. By recycling half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.
2) Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning
Adding insulation to your walls and attic, and installing weather stripping or caulking around doors and windows can lower your heating costs more than 25 percent, by reducing the amount of energy you need to heat and cool your home.
Turn down the heat while you’re sleeping at night or away during the day, and keep temperatures moderate at all times. Setting your thermostat just 2 degrees lower in winter and higher in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year
3) Change a Light Bulb
Wherever practical, replace regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Replacing just one 60-watt incandescent light bulb with a CFL will save you $30 over the life of the bulb. CFLs also last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs, use two-thirds less energy, and give off 70 percent less heat.
If every U.S. family replaced one regular light bulb with a CFL, it would eliminate 90 billion pounds of greenhouse gases, the same as taking 7.5 million cars off the road.

4) Drive Less and Drive Smart
Less driving means fewer emissions. Besides saving gasoline, walking and biking are great forms of exercise. Explore your community’s mass transit system, and check out options for carpooling to work or school.
When you do drive, make sure your car is running efficiently. For example, keeping your tires properly inflated can improve your gas mileage by more than 3 percent. Every gallon of gas you save not only helps your budget, it also keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

5) Buy Energy-Efficient Products
When it’s time to buy a new car, choose one that offers good gas mileage. Home appliances now come in a range of energy-efficient models, and compact florescent bulbs are designed to provide more natural-looking light while using far less energy than standard light bulbs.
Avoid products that come with excess packaging, especially molded plastic and other packaging that can't be recycled. If you reduce your household garbage by 10 percent, you can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

6) Use Less Hot Water
Set your water heater at 120 degrees to save energy, and wrap it in an insulating blanket if it is more than 5 years old. Buy low-flow showerheads to save hot water and about 350 pounds of carbon dioxide yearly. Wash your clothes in warm or cold water to reduce your use of hot water and the energy required to produce it. That change alone can save at least 500 pounds of carbon dioxide annually in most households. Use the energy-saving settings on your dishwasher and let the dishes air-dry.
7) Use the "Off" Switch
Save electricity and reduce global warming by turning off lights when you leave a room, and using only as much light as you need. And remember to turn off your television, video player, stereo and computer when you're not using them.
It’s also a good idea to turn off the water when you’re not using it. While brushing your teeth, shampooing the dog or washing your car, turn off the water until you actually need it for rinsing. You’ll reduce your water bill and help to conserve a vital resource.

8) Plant a Tree
If you have the means to plant a tree, start digging. During photosynthesis, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. They are an integral part of the natural atmospheric exchange cycle here on Earth, but there are too few of them to fully counter the increases in carbon dioxide caused by automobile traffic, manufacturing and other human activities. A single tree will absorb approximately one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime.
9) Get a Report Card from Your Utility Company
Many utility companies provide free home energy audits to help consumers identify areas in their homes that may not be energy efficient. In addition, many utility companies offer rebate programs to help pay for the cost of energy-efficient upgrades.
10) Encourage Others to Conserve
Share information about recycling and energy conservation with your friends, neighbors and co-workers, and take opportunities to encourage public officials to establish programs and policies that are good for the environment.
These 10 steps will take you a long way toward reducing your energy use and your monthly budget. And less energy use means less dependence on the fossil fuels that create greenhouse gases and contribute to global warming.
.If only everyone wants to safe the world..this prevention towards global warming should be easier. Everyone should works together to stop this. WE can plant more trees, use non chemical products, stop illegal logging and also do not litter...
I'm sorry but the easiest thing to do would be get sterilized. Whatever you do to reduce emissions there will still be emissions. We need fewer people. People consume and cause waste. The end.

If you made everything in the word twice as efficient and half as polluting, that is great but then you double the population and we are right back where we started.
here are a couple of easy ways that most people are not aware of.
Over 80% of the dry tropical forests from northern Costa Rica to Mexico have been cut down. Areas of this size and larger have been cut down throughout the world including the Amazon, Indonesia, the Congo and other rain forests. The Caribbean side of Costa Rica has also been decimated with deforestation. The temperature after removing the
rain forest has risen dramatically in these large tracts of land. The weather pattern also changes from this deforestation in each locality and they become drier. When these huge
areas have their trees removed, erosion dumps millions of tons of sediment into the rivers that flow into the oceans. This sediment slowly suffocates the polyps of the precious coral reefs in the tropics. What is the main reason for cutting these rain forests down? The main reason is to make room to raise cattle, not logging as many people think. With logging they generally cut down large hardwoods. To raise cow meat they cut down everything. In Central America
much of the beef is exported to the United States. The cattle industry, over all, causes more global warming than car emissions do. What can the average person do? eat soy, legumes and nuts as a protein source. This is a better way to practice sustainability. If the beef is grown in the United States sorry that isn't sustainable either. A person who eats cow meat (beef) as their main protein source requires about 30 acres of land each year and over 2000 gallons of precious water to raise that steer for protein. That is not sustainability. A person eating soy for their main source of protein only requires one acre of land and about 40 gallons of water each year to grow it. Also, soy doesn't add millions of tons of methane gas each year to our atmosphere. it actually absorbs co2. cows do produce over 100 million tons of this global warming methane gas in the U.S. alone. Cattle excrement also is adding to major pollution problems in our water systems today. Stop eating beef! Or if you absolutely can't stop eating beef, cut back to once a week or once a month. if you must eat a meat chicken is much less destructive to the environment than beef, here in the tropics. Besides, refraining from eating beef is healthier in the long run.
Here is another important environmental disaster, 90% percent of the shrimp served in the U.S. and in other countries comes from the tropics. It is harvested in non-sustainable ways. I have witnessed in one month over 190 sea turtles wash up on shore with their fins cut off, dead from drowning by shrimpers in the osa penninsula. Along with that, for every pound of shrimp harvested, about ten pounds of other creatures are killed and thrown overboard. Yes, much shrimp is farmed. The farms are generally constructed where mangrove swamps, another very important and fragile ecosystem, have been cut down for this purpose and ponds are made to raise the shrimp. After the shrimp are harvested from these ponds the water in them is released into the mangroves. Unfortunately the nitrate level is so high that many of the mangrove fish and other underwater creatures die. So eating shrimp is not sustainable either for our planet. If you want to take responsibility in helping save our planet from global warming, deforestation of the rain forests, dying coral reefs there are many other eating alternatives. please, eat to live, don't live to eat.
For our children's sake and the sake of the rain forests, coral reefs and the entire planet we need to step up and do something other than practice over indulgence. Cavemen had to hunt to get their protein and that was ok. Then we started raising animals to get our protein and that was needed. Now we know how to get all of the protein we need from plants. So it is time to evolve another step and stop the senseless cruelty to raising animals for food and also help control global warming and its effects at the same time.

recycle everything!!! plant trees because they breathe off of the gases causing global warming*
It has been said that the temperature on Earth is getting hotter. In Al Gore’s; "Inconvenient Truth," I heard that a footnote stated; “The Sun is getting hotter” (I have not seen the documentary or read anything on his findings). In DVM’s; "Inconvenient Fact," I heard that the temperature on Mars is getting hotter. At this point in time, I know of no humans living on Mars. Why is the temperature on Mars getting hotter? The Sun is getting hotter. How can we stop Global Warming? Keep in mind; I’m not saying that the Sun is the only reason for “Global Warming,” we have all polluted the Earth. Reducing pollution and conserving energy should be a goal of everyone.
My SOLUTION for Global Warming:
NASA sends a “Sun Shield” with memory metal into space. When deployed, the memory metal will stretch the shield into a large circle or a square. The space shuttle’s astronauts will put the shield into orbit at a location that will block some of the Sun’s rays over a spot. This will decrease the Sun’s rays that hit the Earth. Thus, decreasing the surface and ocean temperatures. Because of the decrease in ocean temperature, the number of hurricanes should decrease. Yes, there are more benefits. The size, number of shields, and locations need to be determined. Again, we all need to decrease pollution and conserve on energy.
