What do u think about global warming?

Answer:
Yesturday I bought a book called 'the chilling stars a new theory of climate change'
"As prize winning science writer Nigel Calder and climate Physicist Henrik Svensmark explain, an interplay of the clouds, the sun and cosmic rays - sub-atomic particles from exploded stars - seems to have more affect on the climate than man-made carbon dioxide.
This conclusion stems from Svensmarks research at the Danish National Space Centre which has recently shown that cosmic rays play an unsuspected role in making our everyday clouds. And during the last 100 years cosmic rays became scarcer because unusually vigorous action by the sun batted many of them away. Fewer cosmic rays meant fewer clouds and a warmer world".
i think we are screwed no matter what we do
Yeah, it's good isnt it? Nice and warm...
I think it should whipe it's feet before it gets in the house.
With the amount of flooding going on right now, seriously pissed off that the government aren't actually DOING anything about it.

If they really do see global warming as "a serious problem" then they wouldn't be so in favour of expanding airports and paving the countryside with more and more roads.

All talk no action.

The first person to answer is right - we're pretty much screwed.
Don't but waterfront property, sell it.
higher temps are being caused by increased solar output mostly. The solar cycle is near it's 11-yr cycle peak output and temps will soon decline as solar output diminishes.

panic is unjustified
very close to the end!!
I think it's the biggest con by the western world to rip off the general public. What answers or excuses would you give to the Ice age? what part did man play in the demise of that scenario? The world and nature is much stronger than any man can contribute to it's destiny, but we can make it a better place to live while we are here. Believe it or not man can live without oil we can't live without water when it's gone it's gone no matter how much we are prepared to pay for it. I'm afraid Global warming is a Joke.
maybe its harming or maybe not. global warming may warm our world and caused flood
I think it is real sad that so many folks refuse to accept that it is upon us, and I feel even worse for our grandchildren! The native americans knew how to live, and we came over and stole the land so we could destroy it! We been doing it ever since and our government still thinks it's more important to take over countries and use the resources in a polluting manner, than to focus on usa issues, and the huge amount of pollution that we contribute!

due to global warming there is a fear that ice on mountains will melt and will bring heavy floods that may cause physical and non physical loss to mankind.
need is to control the increasing temperature of te earth ,dams should be created to save water of floods and then use this water in productive purposes like generation of electricityand small streams near agricultural area.
moreover due to global warming there is quick process of evaporation of water that is ultimate cause of heavy rains.
but on the other side one school of thought also saying that with respect to global warming there is another concept of global colding emerging.
waaaaaaaaaaaah, it seems its the end of the world. Hope we ( the world) can solve this problem... its making lives miserable!
Well if it makes anyone feel any better, God said, we aren't going by water next time around so we should be all good.
today global warming is a serius threat to our envoronment,,,if it goes on at the current rate very soon many of the glaciars would melt amd mane coastal areas wud be submerged....so it is necessary that sumthimg shud be done to stoop it.
d main solution is to reduce the level of CFC's ...due to increase of these gases their is a layer formed in the upper layer of atmosphere so the heat which falls on d earth's surface is not able to go back to d atmosphere b'coz of this layer,,,,,and this causes excess heatying as the heat is trapped in earths atmosphere....
this causes globalwarming.....
WHAT CAN WE DO???
we can help by reducing the amount of Cfc's using ac's less and putting them at not too less temp..planting more trees.etc.
Burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and carbon dioxide is a major contributor to the greenhouse effect and global warming.
You can help to reduce the demand for fossil fuels, which in turn reduces global warming, by using energy more wisely. Here are 10 simple actions you can take to help reduce global warming.

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
2. Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning
3. Drive Less and Drive Smart
Buy Energy-Efficient Products
Use Less Hot Water
Use the "Off" Switch
Save electricity and reduce global warming by turning off lights when you leave a room, and using only as much light as you need. And remember to turn off your television, video player, stereo and computer when you're not using them.
Encourage Others to Conserve

so we shud do wat we can at a small level itself...
Bit of a bugger really. Can barely go anywhere these days without some ratbag beating me about the ears with the fear of it all.
Tough gig if it's really happening. Probably equally tough if the alternative extreme is true.

But if neither of them's true, likely as not something else, such as groundwater depletion, contamination, or hydro carbon energy dependence will manage to make things interesting
i think its a bunch of crap
I think it's real-too much evidence, look around your own neck of the woods and see for yourself.
Can we slow it down? Not likely. I, too, believe we are screwed.
No one really knows the time table on this and some have even said it is happening faster then expected.
Add in to all this that damn asteroid that will be coming between the earth and moon in 2027, and then back again in 2029-lovely, just lovely.
I wanted my son to have a great life, he is only 9 now.
Not matter if this is all real or not we might be wise to treat it as if it was a real threat- Better to be safe then sorry! It's called planning for all eventualities.
alarming...it scared the hell out of me...it will definately affect us all...i am scared bec my future children's children might not see how beautiful earth is...maybe they wont be able to be born...and we must act now...before its too late (or is it?)
don't worry, when the smoking ban comes in just think how much better off the planet will be!..not...
best just to get on with life and stop scaring yourself!! the planets going no where..
it's crap a bunch of politicians trying to get money and power through fear mongering. see the clinton administration for the definition of fear mongering in politics
Emilie.l
it`s not the government it`s god he is responsible he is p-i-s-s-e-d. of with the water boards threatening hose pipe bans. so when we get a day`s sunshine. he is giving them plenty of supply`s. but remember we will still be short of water in summer. when we get it. so much for the global warming eh.
The weather is screwed
The seasons mixed up
Climates are changing
Winters are getting better
Summers are getting worse etc.........
I think the very idea that we are capable of affecting this planet in such a big way is laughable.

Who needs the Death Star when you can destroy a planet with a few carbon emissions and an inefficient fridge freezer.
well considiring on the heatwaves in europe scary 48 degrees in greece...celcius im talking about
Alarmist Global Warming Claims Melt

Under Scientific Scrutiny ---

By James M. Taylor --- Chicago Sun-Times --- 30 June 07

In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, "We must stop
tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end
to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of
intentionally clouding the public's ability to discern the truth." Gore
repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing
as the central focus of public discourse.

If Gore really means what he writes, he has an opportunity to make a
difference by leading by example on the issue of global warming.

A cooperative and productive discussion of global warming must be open and
honest regarding the science. Global warming threats ought to be studied and
mitigated, and they should not be deliberately exaggerated as a means of
building support for a desired political position.

Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,''
have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can
show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging
where science has rebutted his claims.

For example, Gore claims that Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and global
warming is to blame. Yet the September 2006 issue of the American
Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate reported, "Glaciers are growing
in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who
recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to
blame."

Gore claims the snowcap atop Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro is shrinking and that
global warming is to blame. Yet according to the November 23, 2003, issue of
Nature magazine, "Although it's tempting to blame the ice loss on global
warming, researchers think that deforestation of the mountain's foothills is
the more likely culprit. Without the forests' humidity, previously
moisture-laden winds blew dry. No longer replenished with water, the ice is
evaporating in the strong equatorial sunshine."

Gore claims global warming is causing more tornadoes. Yet the United Nations
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated in February that there has
been no scientific link established between global warming and tornadoes.

Gore claims global warming is causing more frequent and severe hurricanes.
However, hurricane expert Chris Landsea published a study on May 1
documenting that hurricane activity is no higher now than in decades past.
Hurricane expert William Gray reported just a few days earlier, on April 27,
that the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the U.S. Atlantic
coast has declined in the past 40 years. Hurricane scientists reported in
the April 18 Geophysical Research Letters that global warming enhances wind
shear, which will prevent a significant increase in future hurricane
activity.

Gore claims global warming is causing an expansion of African deserts.
However, the Sept. 16, 2002, issue of New Scientist reports, "Africa's
deserts are in 'spectacular' retreat . . . making farming viable again in
what were some of the most arid parts of Africa."

Gore argues Greenland is in rapid meltdown, and that this threatens to raise
sea levels by 20 feet. But according to a 2005 study in the Journal of
Glaciology, "the Greenland ice sheet is thinning at the margins and growing
inland, with a small overall mass gain." In late 2006, researchers at the
Danish Meteorological Institute reported that the past two decades were the
coldest for Greenland since the 1910s.

Gore claims the Antarctic ice sheet is melting because of global warming.
Yet the Jan. 14, 2002, issue of Nature magazine reported Antarctica as a
whole has been dramatically cooling for decades. More recently, scientists
reported in the September 2006 issue of the British journal Philosophical
Transactions of the Royal Society Series A: Mathematical, Physical, and
Engineering Sciences, that satellite measurements of the Antarctic ice sheet
showed significant growth between 1992 and 2003. And the U.N. Climate Change
panel reported in February 2007 that Antarctica is unlikely to lose any ice
mass during the remainder of the century.

Each of these cases provides an opportunity for Gore to lead by example in
his call for an end to the distortion of science. Will he rise to the
occasion? Only time will tell.
global warming
global warming is an increase in average temperature of the earths atmosphere.we are putting large amounts of carbon dioxide into the air, and it "blankets" up in the atmosphere trapping warm air in the earth.

global warming is melting the artic. the artic is the earths natural air conditioner. without the earth will become unbearibly hotter. if the artic fully melts the ocean will rise 20 feet. think of every foot of the ocean having an extra 20 feet of water on it. places will flood. one place in india, home to 60 million people will flood. the world trait centre memorial would be under water. in the year 2050 it is estimated the artic will be ful,ly melted . huge amounts of people will be starving and looking for a home. a million species of animals will be extinct.

things you can do:
-change a regular lightbulb to a compact florescent lightbulb
-walk instead of driving more often
-for your washing maching use cold water instead of hot
-install a low flow shower head for your shower

global warming is not a joke. be part of the solution, not part of the problem!
. I think its here to stay. If you ask me I think it is all hooey what they say about it . After all the space missions I think the earths axis is off, as for rockets full of fuel going off to the moon. Well no wonder there is a hole in the ozone layer. All this blaming the public is nonsense. Then what about all the nuclear tests of bombs in the atmosphere, then they blame cars and such, Rubbish cars may not help but they did the damage, and future generations are going to pay the price for it.
