How many people use reusable grocery bags? Where do you get yours? I want to start using them at the store.?

Thank you. Peace!

Answer:
I use them... they sell them at the grocery store I go to.
I just received a nice one from Yahoo. Most grocery stores sell them for a few dollars.
I don't use them but I know I should!
They make great trash bags for my bathroom and SUV
Oh Walmart dosn't give a ****; their main focus is profit and cost.
I make my own. Although, you could find them even in your local supermarket, but they are pretty generic. Pay attention to the material used to make the bag. Since this is something that has to withstand a lot of washing, I recommend bags that are made of cotton, canvas or hemp. If it is organic, even better.
Most grocery stores now have them. I love the ones from Trader Joes because they are tall and sturdy. If you can not find them at your local market then you can purchase them online at www.reusablebags.com

They also sell water bottle, large totes, veggie bags and more. They are great gifts!

For the time being you can use your plastic bags that you have at home at the stores again.
most grocery stores sell them. Especially places like whole foods.

But if you want to splurge a little bit more, there are some adorable reusable shopping bags from ecoist. Which uses all recycled material. And Ecoist plants a tree when you buy their products!

ps. they have theee most adorable handbags made from recycled candy wrappers/newspapers. i own two!
shop at a coop. if youre worried about using a reusable bag you could buy one at your local coop. support local business, buy organic foods, buy organic household cleaning supplies, etc. all of this is more expensive then shopping at cub foods, or wal mart, but its much better for the earth and for your community
I have been taking my paper bags back each time to reuse them and get a 7 cent credit for each. Just bought a reusable one yesterday to try out, bought it at the local grocery store and when I left the store and loaded it into my car it was nice, so sturdy, not like you feel the handle is going to rip off or anything. It cost 99 cents and I'll probably buy some more.
well I'm in Ontario Canada.we get ares from sobeys but the grocery stores have them.plus the super store gives you 50 points for every bag you use at the store.
Not me.
I haven't even looked.
Why?
I use them. I got mine from Whole foods market where I do my shopping and they also sell them at the local farmer's market.
i recycle mine at the organic food store.

walmart usually has a bin you can put used bags in.
I picked up my bags a few at a time. We bought some from a thrift store, yard sales, and I put out the word in my family for some. I also bought some at Linen N' Things.they were on clearance for a $1 a bag.

The only real investment we made was on insulated hot/cold bags. They were about $3 each. We live in the south (U.S.) and the insulated bags have saved us from melted food & spoiled milk!
Re Victoria in Oz. The organics & co-op shoppers have been using BYO bags since , well forever . but as far as corporate stupormarkets go, like Safeway and our own Coles, it was only in 2002 it took off - Planet Ark got the mainsteam into it by getting one of the major chains to stock $5 strong PP (Polypropylene) bags (green coloured)

The other chains and stores followed after seeing a global and local trend and sensing that our shoppers and State's Gov'ts were going to force a (legislate) a bag charge like in Ireland.

Use of reusable bags is now around 30% or more of shopping trips.
It was under 5% in 2001 so that shows things can change quick when the strategy is good.

Planet ark seem to have moved to use of natural fibre bags. There are dozens of similar programs.

In USA I would
1 go to an organics store - they will have bags to buy .
2 second hand shops have bags.

3 Best: Make some, cross stitch a stimulating message on them and sell them.
Mine are just cotton carrier bags. They fold up tiny into your handbag. I get mine from car boot sales. Usually for only a few pennies each. If you are good at sewing and have time the best ones are the ones you make yourself out of scrap fabrics. Many shops now sell them though.
Aldi's has grocery bags(plastic), Whole foods have fibre, or hemp bags. Trader Joe's has fibre knit bags too.

I have a wholefoods and Trader Joe's bag one each. I have heard of wildoats, but I am not sure whether they carry bags or not.

Please check it out or ask. Glad to be of help. Hope my reply helps you to find the information you needed.
