Ok, Im watching a movie right now and it has a tar pit in it, and it sparked my brain, do we still have them??

seriouslly though... I would like to know where? if they are really here?

Answer:
The La Brea tarpits are in a park in urban LA. There's a nice museum of fossils there, too.

Mostly they're pretty small, but there's one impressively large one. Well worth a visit.

Well; It's been over a decade since I've been out there; but growing up in the Los Angeles, CA area we used to go to the La Brea Tar Pits.
The La Brea Tar Pits in Southern California is still an active archeo site.
