What makes plastic so bad when we can recycle it?

Because it still takes energy to recycle it, it takes energy to make it, and it is essentially made out of an energy source (petroleum). Plus, many people don't recycle anything, and even if they do, a lot of plastic still slips through the cracks. The less used, the better.
Because most people don't recycle them. They fill them up with all the trash in their car and toss them out the window like the rednecks they are.
That's the problem we don't recycle it if we recycled then animals wouldn't die every day. Also no industries care about the plastic they through in the ocean and in the road they just do it and think it's the end of it. But it's not.
what makes plastic so bad is that plastic does not breakdown. yes plastic can be recycled but until the cities,towns,counties and townships all of them in the USA make an mantory recycle of the plastic it will just windeup in the landfills or in our rivers lakes and oceans.
Because it lets out Co2 in to the air which is causing global warming! That's what plastic is bad for the environment!!
Even if you can recycle it!
Unfortunately the majority of people refuse to recycle it. Therefore, it is just taking up a lot of space in our landfills.
I can drive around my neighborhood or trash pick-up and recycling days and I'm saddened by how few people have put out their recycle boxes. The city makes it so easy for us, but it seems the younger generation doesen't have time to recycle. And yes, I know who lives in most of the houses, and the young families are not recycling.

3. recycling shoud be a last resort - reduce and reuse
4. few people recycle..at least if they are throwing out glass it will just, eventually, go back to being sand

When you don't throw items out such as plastic bags and plastic bottles, they don't break down easily. It takes many, many years for plastic to breakdown. Instead of using plastic bags at grocery stores, you should use canvas grocery totes that are reusable again and again.
