I don't know about the plastic, but the heat and light, especially once the seal has been broken can lead to bacteria forming in the water. If you leave a plastic bottle of water in a car, even a new sealed one, for a long time, you will see that the bottle, at night when it's cooled down, will look like it's been in a vacuum. It will bee slightly collapsed. That is due to the expanding during the hot day, then contracting during the cool night.
This will draw in outside air into the bottle thus starting bacteria.
I did heard Sheryl Crow telling that on an magazine interview after she was fighting her cancer.
i heard it a few days ago too, and i always have water bottles everywhere since thats what i like to drink .
I've heard that you shouldn't drink out of a water bottle thats been open for more than a day because bacteria from your mouth gets into the bottle, but I don't think thats the same thing, sorry.
ok women NEED to drink water. We need water to sweat, menstrate, gestate, and breastfeed. All liquids are made with water. Just what kind you drink I think is the issue. The down fall of city water, is that of the chemicals they treat it with. Plus some believe that all the women who are on Birth Control excret all the extra hormones, the water purifing systems cannot remove hormones. Well water "artesian wells" and spring water are now carring higher levels of nitrates and phosphates do to increased use of fertilizer, and mass animal farming, and fire works. If it is in plastic some say the plastic isn't good for you. And you sure shouldn't drink or eat anything that has been open over night without it being in the fridge. but they have done a study at Johns Hopkins saying it is all a myth about the plastic being harmful. From what I can tell from real studies drink water but proably only distilled or have a reverse osmosis and ultra violet light treatment. I have the reverse osmosis uv system. LOVE it. Call culligan or other water treatment places you can even rent them month to month.
What kind of plastic container? All plastic is not the same.
The containers for store bought water are regulated for safety. Other food containers like clean milk containers would also be safe.
Anything else sounds a little risky to me.
BTW, many studies have shown public drinking water to be as healthy as bottled water. Plus the fluoride is good for your teeth.
I have not heard that same thing but I have heard that if you microwave (heat) certain plastics i.e. tupperware, that it can release very dangerous toxins too. So what you heard about bottled water in the heat may be true since heating other plastics in the microwave can do the same thing. That's all I've got for ya! Maybe we should just be "safe than sorry" and don't leave it in your car. Take care.
well its because of one of two things. its either since the bottled water was left in the car, assuming it was a sunny day, the heat from the sun would make the plastic container leach some chemicals to water contained inside of it making it very unsafe to drink or it could be that the warmer temperature in the car is encouraging more bacterial growth in the water. its bound to be one of these two but its jus a guess.
