Ozone depletion any solutions?
Answer:
Ban CFCs produced be evil, greedy capitalist industry!!
Oh, wait, we did that 20 years ago and nothing's happened.
Looks like "evil, greedy capitalist industry" was a scapegoat again...
I read somewhere in this general topic that the Ozone was back good as new now...but have not confirmed it yet
Might want to check the latest and greatest.
Lessee...we banned CFC's (in North America and parts of Europe but NOT in SE Asia and the island nations).
We implemented legislation on automobile emissions (which cost the consumer and taxpayer BILLIONS of dollars) with the intent of reduction of chlorine pollutants.
AND..
The ozone 'hole' continues to vary in size according to magnetic field strength and direction, solar output, and volcanic activity.
Upper atmosphere ozone continues to be produced by every electrical discharge (lightning stroke) produced in the presence of oxygen.
Hmmmm...another non-problem which was made into a regular monster by alarmist thinking.
BTW, the ozone layer has _JACK_ to do with 'global warming'. Ozone does help filter UV and provides the reflection layer for us radio enthusiasts.
lets reduce CFCs released by aerosols etc...but wait...we already did that...infact the hole in the ozone layer is almost completely gone...and you know wat..now the ozone is getting too THICK! aka global warming...we need to actually look at ways of thining the atmosphere...not thickening it...
the basic solution for this is just to decrease pollution and the 3 simple ways to decrease air pollution is
1.separation of wet garbage and dry.wet garbage should be decomposed dry garbage should be sent for recyling instead of burning
2.we should walk or go on a cycle for smaler distances instead of taking an vehicle
3.factories should have tall chimniesand harmful gases from them sholud be separated
Solutions to the problem of ozone depletion are; keeping to the framework of the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change (signed in 1997 it strengthens policies and calls for the limitation and reductions of greenhouse gas emissions), comply with EPA's Section 608 Refrigerant Recycling Regulations, reforestation (uptake of CO2), educate children about the environment (future workers of tomorrow and they can pass ideals on to their children), recycle in general, use energy efficient resources (electric cars, solar power), minimize use of the air conditioner, do not waste refrigerator energy (leaving the door open), reduce CFC’s (aerosol) and use composts for leftover food and their shells (that came from the earth), walk or bike, commute and switch to a gas fireplace instead of a wood burning one, and burn fires less frequently etc.
I did this question too!
