Do you think it is a good idea...?

that in Colorado, they are going to use the garbage, that turns to gas,as an energy source. It would be green, and help fight global warming.

Answer:
That's nothing new, in the UK we've been using rubbish as fuel for power stations (Energy from Waste Stations) for years. The problem is that there a still some 'nasties' in the effluent gas so it needs lots of treatment before it's safe to let out into the environment. It doesn't really help CO2 emissions (you get CO2 from nearly everything that burns), but it does cut down on land-fill and the methane given off by rotting rubbish.
if it does what it says then i suppose it will be good
The greener the better. But people build up too much hope before even knowing it works. This is a really good question.
Of course ! reduce pollution,green world,healthy life !
every little helps
Any form of re-cycling is good as it saves energy.
if they do it and it actually works the way they are saying and is really green. I think it is a great idea that many should imitate.
Do you think it is a good idea...? YES! Certainly!
It would be green, and help fight global warming.
If it's good enough for Doc to use to power the Flux Capacitor in Back To The Future, it ought to be good enough for Colorado. If they build a billion dollar plant, maybe they can extract enough energy to light a CFL. Personally, I think it would be more efficient to get a bunch of really long hoses and use them to collect all the cow farts. We already know it's flammable. Don't study it, use it for fuel!

...hey wait... We could use the cow fart gas to run the bar b q's to cook our hamburgers. Wouldn't that be ironic. "Hey Cow!... We're gonna kill you and use your own farts to cook you up nice and tasty" - LOL ...I wonder if we could do the same thing with the terrorists too??
could be
Petrol is green power, it is recycled dead trees, so I guess that make it solar power. As sun made trees grow and what goes around comes around. Recyle our watse as fertiliser or if unhealthy then catch and burn the methane of our bodily wastes. Many things can be used many times before the energy extraction is exhausted.
We've been doing that in southern Ohio for several years now. It works fine and helps to prepare the landfill for future use.
I would say it is definitely a good idea in principal but no doubt there are many issues that would have to be looked at first before it could really be seriously considered. Generally you find with solving any problem like this, it in turn creates another one somewhere down the line.

I suppose my first question would be how does burning all the garbage impact on imitions. Would we in burnning all this garbage, just be creating large amounts of un-wanted carbon dioxide instead and if so, which of the two is more harmfull in the long term.

It is most definitely an exciting concept which, when taken at face value seems as though it could be quite feasible.
if it works it will be good.
Anything that burns and releases heat, is bad and adds to the atmospheric temperature. The earth is turning into big gas oven. Atleast the lands will be clean when you are going to burn them for energy usage, but we pay the price anyway.
Yes. It's nothing new.
