SOLUTIONS for global warming?
Answer:
One example I was thinking of the other day that a town of my size (125,000) could do to help is work on better mass transit. When there are so many towns like mine that aren't huge but big enough to make a difference, it would work wonders for several this size to look at mass transit. We have busses but I think something like a small Metrolink like in St. Louis would work well for both.
Well first the US needs to cut back on its oil usage. It also needs to pass laws for cleaner industries. And we must stop denying global warming and do things to stop it.
Start building nuclear power plants. LOTS of them. The UN report on Global Warming said its going to be around for a millenia, and "reducing the warming rate" with flourescent light bulbs and lowering ones thermostat and car pooling and burning ethanol isn't going to cut it. To "reverse" global warming is going to take more energy than you can get from solar panels that shut down at sunset.
Step one should be to collect at least another fifty thousand years' worth of planetary climate data, so we can be certain that it even actually exists. In the meantime, US citizens should get back to worrying about pollution--something that does actually exist and which we have a chance of affecting. And while "think globally, act locally" is a great slogan, don't think it means you shouldn't look further than the tailpipe of your car for problems to fix. The already-feeble environmental controls we had in place on US factories have, by and large, been completely undone by the Bush administration. Stop worrying about your neighbor's SUV and start worrying about the factory that makes them.
We can try to buy more hybrid cars to lower our emission of harmful gasses. We can cut back on cattle ranching- cows emit methane gas that is a huge contributor to global warming. Also, lawnmowers emit 10x more harmful gasses then cars, so it would be more efficient to use the simple push mowers that leave the grass cuttings to fertilize the lawn.
take all the cars off the road air plains and use trains to travel that would help several problems
It has been said that the temperature on Earth is getting hotter. In Al Gore’s; "Inconvenient Truth," I heard that a footnote stated; “The Sun is getting hotter” (I have not seen the documentary or read anything on his findings). In DVM’s; "Inconvenient Fact," I heard that the temperature on Mars is getting hotter. At this point in time, I know of no humans living on Mars. Why is the temperature on Mars getting hotter? The Sun is getting hotter. How can we stop Global Warming? Keep in mind; I’m not saying that the Sun is the only reason for “Global Warming,” we have all polluted the Earth. Reducing pollution and conserving energy should be a goal of everyone.
My SOLUTION for Global Warming:
NASA sends a “Sun Shield” with memory metal into space. When deployed, the memory metal will stretch the shield into a large circle or a square. The space shuttle’s astronauts will put the shield into orbit at a location that will block some of the Sun’s rays over a spot on the ocean. This will decrease the Sun’s rays that hit the Earth. Thus, decreasing the surface and ocean temperatures. Because of the decrease in ocean temperature, the number of hurricanes should decrease. Yes, there are more benefits. The size, number of shields, and locations need to be determined. Again, we all need to decrease pollution and conserve on energy.

Start eating steaks and hamburger fast. Eat that methane producing produce till the cows come home and then keep eating.
we can get rid of the sun, since this is the cause.
I am trying to get the word out on solar energy. I live in Atlanta and Georgia is one of the states with the most sun especially as of late as we have had no rain in more than a month. The solar panels of old, big clunky looking panels, have been replaced with small and more efficient pv (photovoltaic cells) which have been engineered to fit on a shingle and provide enough energy to power your entire home during the day with any excess energy generated returning to the grid (and you receiving a check from the power company). I researched pv cells five years ago and they were quite expensive (around $50,000) but now with help from the government and the department of energy's 'solar initiative' program, the cost has been reduced by more than sixty percent ($20,000-retail) for a system to power your home. Many states including California, Florida, New Jersey and New York have programs that reduce the price by as much as half and the federal government is offering a $2,000 tax refund for anyone in the country that installs a solar system. The sun is free and comes up everyday so why are we not having these installed on our homes. Anyone with questions, just google the 'department of energy' and you can read more about it. Tell your friends & your family and if you are building a home, tell your builder to install it. $20,000 extra on a $300,00 home is nothing especially if it means you have $0 for an electric bill and there is that much less carbon fuels being burned to create electricity. I know on my next home, I will use a solar power and solar water heating system. I would like to see every new home built within the next five years with the same. This is a huge answer to the global warming issue.
Mass suicide. If every man, woman and child were dead there would be no more global warming.
We are causing it afterall, right? If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.
The planet should belong to the whales and owls and cute fuzzy bunnies, not mean old nasty Man.
plant plenty of trees
Quit doing pork projects in Congress.
