Eco tourism its the only devellopment that brings in money for nature and the local people and needs the Background intact and as healthy and and ocupied by fauna as possible.

A Hotel or cabañas does not really take that muc bspace ,
Urbanization and farming are almost the worst ,wiping everything of the board and replacing it with roads ,tar ,concrete or monocultures
But he most harmfull of all is the deforestation for the production of Ethanol,
They are intending to replace most of the indigenous Forrest's in the world ,with mono cultures for the production of Ethanol,
Non sustainable, chemically grown ,heavily irrigated (with water needed for communities)one specie Forrest's,that have only plagues of insects as fauna which are controlled with pesticides.
Killing all bio diversity,in both flora and fauna ,adding to the destruction and extinction of species ,like nothing we have ever seen before.
All in the quest for alternative energy and to save the Environment ,
Sustainable development, as in permaculture.
Any kind of development is going to create an urban footprint, but sustainability at least means we repair the damage and do less damage elsewhere because we can supply our basic needs closer to home.
