Is global warming really our fault? It happened during the dino era, and they didn't drive cars?

We humans blame ouselves for affecting the earth's natural balance (the loss of polar ice, sudden weather changes and records, changes in our ocean's temperatures, etc...) by excessively burning fossil fuels, but is this really the problem?

Or is the earth meant to heat up, lose its ozone layer and ice caps, then freeze in an ice age, to then melt down to where we are now? This process has supposedly happened before, so is it logical to blame our selves because it's happening now?

It is often said we have increased the speed of the process, but have we really? Hey, maybe our ancient friends did blame themselves :)

Answer:
This is why the global warming debate is so screwed up. Two people can look at the exact same data and come to completely different conclusions. For example, in Dana's wikipedia article, there is a chart showing above average temperatures from roughly 1980 to present. It also shows average temperatures around 1940 and below average temperatures in the 50's to 70's and pre 1930. The global warming people look at this trend and say the world is heating up. That's true. However, what is also true is that the temperatures have been below average for most of the rest of the century. Non-global warming people take this to mean that there are natural cycle up and down and since the industrial revolution we have had both warmer and cooler temperatures. Same chart, two different conclusions. I think we all need to consider the source of the conclusion when we evaluate what we believe about global warming and we all need to look at the data itself to be educated about it as opposed to spouting off what some politician claims. Then we can start seriously evaluating what can be done about it.
Greenhouse gas emissions account for 80-90% of the acceleration in global warming we've seen over the past 40-50 years.

Greenhouse gas emissions are not the only causes of global warming. There are also natural causes, which caused the planet to enter and exit ice ages in the past. However, these natural causes cannot account for the recent acceleration in global warming. So yes, we have really sped up the process - a lot.
The fossil named Al Gore was not there to save them.
The whole point of global warming it is a "test" given to us humans to show if we are actually rational creatures or parasites. The outcome of our future actions to slow down the destruction of our environment will determine in what category we fall.
Mankind may play a very small part in global warming. The big question is this - Do we need to create economic havoc to try to keep the environment in stasis?
no!! global warming is NOT our fault, the earth just goes through stages. Like you said, the same thing happened al long time ago w/ the dinosaurs.
Tryrana-GORE-us rex preached reduction of fossil fuels but drove a Hummer instead of one of those vehicles on the Flinstones.
How can you people not get this through your thick skulls-- THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING! Al made all that up to make money. If he truly believed it he would be living by what he preaches. CO2 does not hurt the planet. ITS WHAT PLANTS STRIVE ON! The incredible amount of CO2 that we produce is the reason we have been having great crop harvesting every year. If there was such thing as global warming they would have been warming in the 70's instead of cooling. Take a minute to actually think about what old Al is saying. It doesn't add up. This happens every X number of years and Al just decided he would market what is happening and strangle everyone out of there money.
They didn't have liberals to make up global warming back in the dino age. It was and still is a natural occurance we just need a damned reason for everything. O ya the hole in the ozone layer is shrinking go figure.
But they farted
Ok, I would like to say one thing...
The hole in the Ozone layer has nothing to do with global warming. That is a different issue and it has been taken care of. That is why it's shrinking. The hole is caused by CFCs (clorofluorocarbons) which used to be found in aerosol spray cans.
Once scientists realized that CFCs react with the ozone in the ozone layer to destroy the ozone, they had CFCs banned in propellants world wide.

Anyway, yes the Earth is in a cycle of heating up and cooling down. But this time it is heating at a faster rate than the past, which causes for concern. The only thing scientists have found that could possibly be causeing the change is the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Temperature graphs directly correlate with carbon dioxide graphs, just see for yourself- http://www.koshland-science-museum.org/e...
With the dinos, a huge asteroid hit the Earth, threw particles into the atmosphere that blocked out the sun which killed plants and other animals producing widespread famine and death. It was actually a global cooling and darkening, not warming.

It's clear that you don't really know what you are talking about.
People have been using this argument over and over as a refutement of Global Warming. There is one big difference between the two:

Natural climate change happens over thousands or millions of years, Global Warming is doing the same in decades. That is not a natural trend. Some species may be able to adapt somewhat, but no species can evolve a defense against a hurricane. It is going to be a rough ride.
The scientific data clearly shows that, starting about 40 years ago, man took over control of the climate from nature.

We ought to give it back.
