Your thoughts?

I've just been shown this site: http://www.peterussell.com/odds/worldclo...
Not too sure how they are getting the world temperature the way they are but have a look and tell me what you think of it. Comments much necessary with this :S thanks

Answer:
Thanks for sharing that link, I think the site is great.

As others have said, the figures are based on averages but because the sample size is so high (the world population) and instances of the events shown are frequent then the figures are going to be pretty accurate, obvuiously not spot on but not far off.

Specifically you mentioned the world temperature. The site has taken a baseline figure and has configured the program so that over the course of a year it adds 0.01°C to that figure. Not sure which figure they've used as the baseline but it's slightly under, the current figure on the site is 14.61°C but a more accurate figure would be 14.77°C with an annual rise in temp (based on the last 25 years) of 0.0177°C.

Slight errors aside, it's still a really interesting site and when you look at how many people have died needlessly it makes you wonder.
carbon dioxide
Well, they simply test how nice and stable the weather as before, and now the weather is either super hot or super cold in most places.
I wouldn't put much stock in any of the numbers portrayed in that web site. The numbers are based on a lot of averages from all over the world and then they extrapulate the information out. They then divide it out as average by seconds.
Neat site. They no doubt take the past and are extrapolating that into the future.

Not perfect, but plenty close enough, if they update the work as little as every year or so.
Thats an interesting little clock they have there..But like all things they are taking averages, like have you seen that one that is suppose to predict when you going to die..So it holds little weight in the end....Just a bunch of numbers ..but I do like the clock :)
hover your mouse over the question mark RIGHT NEXT TO IT.

And next time, don't ask stupid questions.
Nice looking site - whether the facts are actual and realtime must be taken with a pinch of salt - offices are closed for the weekend - updates occur during office hours only. The rest is a neat showing of number crunching for those into trivia.
Weather is always changing and people that stay and live where the smog is bad then that's what they want.
I've noticed for many years when weather scientist predict a mild winter it is usually colder than normal so watch out. I live in s.w. va an it was only 50 degs. this morning in july 07 21 07.GLOBAL WARMING?
Pretty cool site. Just keeping track of many statistics based on estimates of changing rates from many sources. Temp. is the avg. and adds about .01 deg C per year as predicted.

Interesting data. Not sure why the data on abortions, unless they want to relate to population growth.
About as valid as many climate models.

But that's not it's purpose. I suspect that it's meant to increase anxiety of our ever growing and vastly diverse world so that he can sell books like this:
