Global Warming is BS?

http://www.glennbeck.com/2006news/newswe... contains an article from Newsweek from 1975 predicting the Global Cooling that would happen with 10 years. Waht do you think of this?

Answer:
Huh.

So now, all the AGW Alarmists are saying DON'T consider the validity of climatologists' findings from before 1980 because they were a "fledgling" science, but they never seem to have a problem saying that we've known about the Greenhouse effect for over a century. They never seem to question the measuring techniques of temperatures, atmospheric gases, etc, despite the fact that data collection is dependent on scientific objectives. Faulty objectives would raise questions concerning the validity of the raw data.

The bottom line that Linda's question illustrates is the foolishness in rushing to judgment when the science is so obviously incomplete. Any methodology that relies more on modeling than on empirical evidence lends itself to the same pitfalls of that 70s rush to judgement.
Even the most educated guess is just that-a guess.

A thousand things could happen in the next 5 years to change the climate. 99% of those humans have no control over.
And, true a lot of places around the planet are 30 degrees cooler and they are more right than global waming. Newsweek hardly decieves the readers. Newsweek says Global Cooling and I believe in all Newsweek articles Global Warming is utter BS.

And, while at it watch teh real reason why tempertures rise and fall.

First off, global cooling had already happened by 1975.

Secondly, exactly how does a 32 year old Newsweek article make the current scientific consensus that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming any less valid?

Thirdly, your second link didn't work. I hope it wasn't a link to The Great Global Warming Swindle, because that movie was pure bad science and propaganda.

Fourthly, climatology has improved by leaps and bounds since 1975. Your question is like saying 'the first Mac computer sucked, so how can you trust the Apple G5 to work?'
Whether or not there is such a thing as climate change do you really want all that stuff in your air and water? The earth needs to be cleaned up regardless.
Of course global warming is BS! 30 years ago Mr. David Suzuki was in the forefront of the mini-ice age scare! I'm not sure how many of you will remember that, but it was all the "fear" about 30 years ago because the global temperature was declining! Well, now look what he is preaching! We, as a species, have not even been on this planet long enough to affect the climate to the degree it would take to cause global warming!! This is just a natural occurrence, and will change again eventually.
How stupid are these doubters? First of all they don't know that in 1975 no one new that there was no real certainty about what the future climate would be. Newsweek, Popular Science, Time, and other magazines ran stories about the infant science of climatology--and the SPECULATIONS about possible warming or coling in the future.

But then, these "doubters" are so stupid they don't even know the difference between a popular science article and a peer-reviewed article in a scientific journal! lol
Hmmm,,,How many years did the Catholic church insist the world was flat? How many years did those in power let people believe anything when it's not true? Tell me, when you make a mistake, do you own up to it and learn then go on from there or do you cling to the wrong answer?
If Al Gore tells you it's not a good idea to jump off the empire state bldng, are you going to do it to see if you can prove him wrong?
Grow up and do something instead of clinging on to lies to justify your laziness!
You know, Linda, I have always thought that global cooling and global warming has sounded a little far-fetched from articles I've read about them in the past. But I have to say, I haven't given it enough thought to research it. You may be right, it could be BS. I'm not really sure.
if you believe Global Cooling that would happen with 10 years, why not believe Global Warming that would happen with 10? if Al gore said Global Cooling that would happen with 10 years, would you believe that?

linda is republican, you cant ask a republican for a true answer, nor democrat. this question has become political. we environmentalists have to listen to those pathetic politicians. you need to do a research, know the fact, not because of Al gore or George Whatever Bush said so.
Sure is BS
Interesting that people first bring up the predictions of an oncoming ice age from 32 years ago in a feeble attempt to support their argument that global warming isn't man made or that global warming doesn't exist at all. The fact is the scientists were somewhat right back then, the Milankovitch cycles is supposed to have us in a cooling period, but earth is not cooling, it is warming instead. So my question back to you is, if we should be in cooling period, why do you think it's getting warmer?
Your second link doesn't work. No matter. I usually stick to the religion & sprituality section, but this question is too tempting.
Global Warming is a hoax by those who would control your life. Google and see Al Gore's electric consumption at HIS house. (I've seen it, can't remember where or I'd post it).

I think it is a bunch of flat-earth nonsense. The terminlogy "scientific consensus" is an oxymoron.

"Science" is testable, repeatable, verifiable, and deals with facts. If an apple falls off my kitchen table, it is going to hit the floor, and it doesn't matter who did the knocking off.

"Consensus" implies that there is disagreement, but it is a reasonable compromise. Consensus is what you get when there is going to be a new highway pass thru the county and the county is nothing but farmland, and all the farmers get together and decide where the road is actually going to be. Not all of them will like it, but they are all willing to live with it. Consensus implies opinion.

Since when is science subject to opinion?
"scientific consensus" is neither science nor opinion. It is a bunch of flat earthers who pick and choose what "facts" they will examine.
