WHO thought that Live Earth was a really stupid idea for helping the environment?

Live Earth was really stupid if they are trying to be environmentally conscious. I mean think about it, all those people driving there, all the electricity being used, and all the materials to build it. Everyone was already aware that our environment is declining, so that was the stupidest thing ever!

Answer:
I have to agree on the fact that it was such a stupid thing to do!! There are plenty of other ways to spend that money and help the environment at the same time!
LOL! I was thinking the same thing earlier when I watched it, not to mention that everyone watching it had their computers on and the AC cranked up cause it is hot outside! lol
You did.
Your points are well taken, and I am not a huge proponent of all this global warming hysteria . . . but I think the point is more to create awareness and raise money - sacrificing the points you make.

At what point is enough enough with environmental issues being stuffed down our throat though - whatever happened to the simple but efficient Woodsy Owl with his "give a hoot, don't pollute" theme?
They say not to waste energy and watching tv almost all day.. talk to me about watsed energy.
lol, good call!
I know they used solar energy for part of it. I saw part of their concert and it was really low key-hardly any electrical equipment (relative to how much is normally used).
Anyway, at least they're trying to bring awareness. It would help if you'd do a little research before you start complaining.
I won't say it is the stupidest cause there are other stupidest things but why would you say you're saving the earth when you're contributing with all those pollution (noise, land and air!) when people gather at that area, they might throw litter and all that!
good for you to raise this issue
I think it was quite a smart idea. First off, they claim to have had 2 billion viewers. I'm skeptical of that number, but regardless a whole lot of people watched the concert and thus became more aware of the climate crisis.

Secondly, Live Earth went to great lengths to minimize their carbon emissions, as you can see in their green policy linked below. The people who attended the concert in person would have done something else if they hadn't gone to the concert - it's not like they would have sat around in a cave if the concert weren't held.

I'd be willing to bet that the amount of awareness the concert raised will far outweigh the minor carbon emissions it created.
Liberals in America are going to great lengths to justify this naive, stupid event. Al Gore would lead his people off the cliff, and they'd spend their last moments on earth reaming out the rest of us for not jumping on board.
