Should Styrofoam cups and containers be banned?
Answer:
Of course! Why not use glass so you can reuse it. Styrofoam doesn't just disappear it sits it the ground until 100 thousand years have passed by and desinagrat.
i say yes because i hate styrofoam, it hurts my ears.
A lot of the stuff these days that looks like styrofoam is actually a different product that is biodegradable.
I'd say find out if it really is styrofoam first, and if it is, just don't shop or eat at those stores anymore.
I agree with you. They should be banned. They are probably cancer related to. Lots of times, children like to bite into these kinds of cups.
Not necessarily! I work for a recycler in Chicago and we export PS (polystyrene) to our Chinese facility were it is reprocessed into pellets and reused in new products. The problem is in the United States we don't have a system set up to collect and reuse this material. It is easier and less hassle for us to just through it away. Don't blame the material, just blame us "dumb stuck in our ways Americans". PS natural color (white) sells for 25-35 cents per pound on the open market which provides more cost savings then landfill by fare. Do the math, if you have a whole load 35,000 LB or so of baled PS that load is worth $8750 on the low side. We need to change the way people think not the products we make, in this case anyway.
No and no. And who died and left you in charge of what type of cup I use?
