I live in small studio, sunrises and sets?

I live in small studio rental, the building has 5 floors the sun rises and falls at my only window,no ventalation, have cieling fan window fan,and air conditioner, when its 56 outside it;s 80 in hear,do I get bigger ceiling fan. Please help very hot can,t afford to move!

Answer:
What direction is your ceiling fan circulating? You may want to look into simply reversing the direction of the ceiling fan rotation. In one direction, the fan will blow air down, reversed, the air will be pulled up and circulated the opposite direction Try it and see -- sometimes that helps. Do you have light blocking shades? My neighbor has special window shades that block the light, it seems to keep the temperature down for her. Without direct ventilation, you also might want to look into a swamp cooler -- where you add water to a cooler (I've seen them on wheels) and it circulates cooled air. Good luck!
Can you get a window unit? Would bring in more a/c. Also, box fans are pretty cheap now at Walmart and Target, usually only $30 or so. I have one I use at night in my bedroom because I tend to get hotter at night for some reason. Good luck.
Have you tried getting heavy curtains and/or blinds to block out the light and heat during the day?
A window unit would be nice but I would not advise it with you only having the one window. I have several friends from Spain and their advise for keeping cool during the hot moments is as follows: Keep your window and curtains open at night, to let the cool air in and to let the hot air out. Keep the window and curtains closed during the day (if you're in desperate need of circulation, at least keep the curtains closed). Open windows just before dusk and close them shortly after dawn. It will take a while for you and your apartment to adjust to this but it will work.

Also, my advise: Keep the ceiling fan on low constantly. Use the window fan only when necessary (keep costs down), same goes for the air conditioner. Try not to clutter up your apartment too much. Try and keep the things that you do have (especially bigger things) more towards the wall so that you have a large space for the air to circulate. Turn off electronics when you are not using them so that they do not heat up the room. Also, investing in a dehumidifier may benefit you as often times heat is made much worse by the moisture in the air.

I hope this helps!!
I suggest that you put some window film on your windows that will reflect the suns rays during the summertime and will give you back those rays during the wintertime, also make sure that this window film is a type that can be removed so if you move you can remove it and take it with you to another location. You can find these at a home depot or at a Lowe's store or on line on the Internet(maybe even e-bay) also you can buy a type of window fan that will allow the outside air to come in or the inside air to be exhausted(they have 2 switches and two small fans inside them) check on that when you are home depot or Lowe's.The cost of both items will be generated back year after year in electricity, comfort, and peace of mind.

be sure to read down to the wet sheet idea. My grandmother in NY has a similar studio apt as yourself & I do know this helps.
Have you tried the fan for windows that have two small fans in it? One lets cool air in while the other sucks the warmer house air out. If you place is fairly small it might do the trick, and they are alot cheaper then an air conditioner, they usually have a side paneling that allows you to custom fit it to your window too!
Cover the window with some kind of material that will keep the heat out in summer.
