If you compare gas prices to housing?
Answer:
Define Middle Class income before you GRIPE about this
and then add... until you have experienced living as a family of 4 on the cusp of Federally Defined Poverty Level of $20,00 GROSS... then don't even talk to me about Middle Class income
I have truely lived every economic class there is with the exception of the 2 extremes. I have not been homeless (or made less than $12,000 per year... note that for an individual in AL you would have to be at less than $6,500 GROSS before you quailfy for assitance such as food stamps).. and I have never lived in a situation of family income over $750,000 GROSS. however, I have truely lived everywhere in between..
I am current at median income for my state -- family of 2 living on $18,000 GROSS --- up until recently, I was a family of 3 living on $75,000 GROSS (of which 45,000 was my own income.. not my spouses)
Given that is MEDIAN... this should make it Middle Class
Most people who define themselves as middle class have a family income (family of 2 -4) between $40,000 Gross - $90,000 Gross
and by the standards of Median Income (what hte majority of people make) that is WAY ABOVE THE MIDDLE
The Middle Class has to give up going to the movies and eating out -- to accomodate the higher prices/inflation
The Median Income has to give up Doctors Visits and Medicines that they NEED -- to acocomate higher prices/inflation
that is so true.
AMEN!
Agree...middle class income is low.but i believe it should not go up...I propose that minimum wage should go down as well as all products produced. Because if we raise the middle class income eventually long down the line we will be to the point where milk may eventually (or any other product) be $1,000 due to high income...and a high minimum wage...so i think that the government should look at lowering the minimum wage and businesses do the same! I know this is a far fetched idea but eventually it will need to happen! We don't need to raise prices we need to lower prices!!
The Pell Grant for financial aid has not gone up. It is the same as when I went to college 20 years ago. Kids today get into a lot more debt for school.
bama wow thats true, i guess im in middle class cuz i my family give up movies and going out.
