What can I do to help fix the world in the next ten years?
Answer:
You can't fix the world, you can only fix yourself.
If you really want to do something good for the environment, figure out what you TRULY need. Consumption is what destroys the environment. The more you consume, the greater the negative impact. The clothes you wear. The food you eat. Every thing that requires manufacturing - cell phone, iPod, computers, DVDs, etc. - they ALL have a negative impact on the environment. The same thing goes for consumption of energy.
You don't have to give up EVERYTHING - just try to decrease the negative impact on the environment.
I think the best thing you can do is continue to be energy conscious as it seems like you are, and also make everyone you know aware of the simple things they can do to help conserve energy. You are only one person, but your actions could affect many!
Within your own household there's alot you can do. You can start using energy efficient appliances, including lightbulbs. Also, make sure you switch things off when you are not using them, don't just put them on standby. Where possible, unplug things which you aren't using as well, because even if they are switched off they are using energy if they are plugged in. Remember to switch lights off when they don't need to be on as well. Also, recycle as much as possible.
As well as this, you can do alot with the way you travel. Avoid using the car on short journeys - walk or ride a bike instead. And for longer journeys, try and use public transport where possible.
You can also put pressure on the government to get them to make large scale changes, and put pressure on businesses to get them to act.
There are a number of websites where you can find out more, including:
www.icount.org.uk
www.bbc.co.uk/climatechange
www.climatechallenge.gov.uk
For more websites, search on google for phrases like "climate change" or "global warming"
You can't do much of anything, really.
Even if you cut all your carbon emissions down to zero, you would have zero impact on the environment.
Your best bet, if you are interested in climate change, is to go to the library and start studying climatology. Learn all there is to know about the climate. Study the theories on global warming and educate yourself, with the goal to go to college and study climatology and get a PHD in the subject.
If you do that, and dedicate your life to it, then you may be the next great scientist in the area.
Here's somethings that no one even thinks of, yet it's the most effective, simplest thing to change...
The meat industry causes more water pollution in the united states than all the industries combined because the animals raised for food produce 130 times more excreatment than the ebtire human population 86,600lbs per second.
Of all agriculture land in the United States, 87% is used to raise animals for food. TWENTY TIMES MORE LAND IS REQURED TO FEED A MEAT-EATER THAN TO FEED A PURE VEGETARIAN.
Raising animals for food consumes MORE THAN HALF of all the water used in the United States, It takes 3,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of meat, but only 25 gallons to produce a pound of wheat.
Rain Forests are being destroyed at a rate of 125,000 square mile per year to create space to raise animals for food, For every quarter pound fast food burger made of rain forest beef, 55 square feet of land are consumed.
Raising animals for food requires MORE THAN ONE THIRD of all raw materials and fossil fuels used in the United States. Producing a single hamburger patty uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles and enough water for 17 showers.
There's a lot more too it...Besides, the consumption of animals causes many health issues and is now the leading cause of death in Americans, (heart disease and colon cancer.) Fast food now kills more people then tobacco!

Please adopt TAGP(tm).
Stop using your computer, your car, heating your house, cooling your house, buying things that needed to be transported across the country to where you live, etc.
Or maybe you could not believe everything that some crackpot like Al Gore, who uses more energy than 20 households, says.
Okay, nothing is gonna happen,They used to say(in 1975,global cooling was going on)true!iT IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO RAISE ALL OF OUR TAXES!
