How would you respond to the following suggestion: Pollution is unacceptable and must be eliminated?
Answer:
I agree
yeah but if we eliminated pollution what would al gore do for a living?
I would write "I agree" on my Taco Bell bag with a Sharpie, and toss it out the window in front of your house.
"I agree, lets do it"
I'd say. No kidding. Easier said than done. Big corporations run the world and the money they are making and the money they are giving to the government means pollution problems will remain unsolved.
to end all polluution would make it impossible for humans to sustain their lives on earth
But how? Evil is unacceptable and must be eliminated too, but it will take awhile. What do you suggest each individual do to help?
I would ask you not to talk in general terms and ask you to be more specific about your question. You can drive a bus threw the gaps in the different meanings of pollution
Is this an essay question?
It is a bit of an absolute statement which I think, although admirable, is unrealistic.
First I would define what I mean by pollution and the US EPA website, and a host of others, are useful here.
I might also want to consider how pollution is caused, and what benefits we as a society, and individuals get out of pollution causing activities, before looking at what costs we face, environmental, physical, economic etc.
I might also want to look at how pollution could be eliminated or at least reduced, by actions both personal and society wide.
My personal viewpoint is that pollution is a major contributer to ill health and retards ecosystem function and is hence very undesirable and that all efforts should be mad by individuals and organisations to reduce it.
Pollution is unavoidable and must be dealt with in a sustainable manner. Every organism creates waste. The key is to find the balance within an ecosystem so that all of the organisms can thrive together.
Well that isn't a suggestion. Its more like a statement of opinion.
yes, in a resolving graduall way .
Everyone is aware that pollution is not good to the health and wellbeing and yet not many are doing anything to improve the situation. I would suggest (which is what we are doing now but we need this exercise to go worldwide to have major impact on the environment). We avoid using paper bags as far as is possible. We recycle all papers and bags. Used envelopes are used to record messages. There are many ways to save resources. These are just a few of the things we do everyday.. i mean, my family.
That's easy, I've been dreaming about someone saying that to me all my life. My response would be:
I need a shotgun, one box of shells, one notebook, an ink pen, a driver with a car provided free of charge, a phone, and a laptop with wireless access.

See the notebook and pen would be to write a letter to the president. My letter would say that I am dying of cancer and my one wish is to go hunting with him on his farm. That's what the shotgun and shells are for. The driver would be to take me there, the phone to call/text my buddies from the presidential farm, and the laptop to record the dirt I'll use to black mail the president on shutting down the major pollutant causing companies. That's plan A at least.
LOL Are we going to eliminate the people that throw there garbage out the window of there car, change there babies diaper and leave it on the ground of the parking lot, empty out there ash tray in the parking lot/side of the road? The list goes on and on. Shoot them on site. LOL
