Grab a bunch of cheap dime Sci-Fi paperbacks, and hash them together with global warming. Tell how global warming releases ancient monsters trapped in stasis in the prehistoric ice, who gobble all the men and molest in great detail all the women, who are uniformly beautiful, and then the women die in monsterbirth, so the human race is wiped out due solely to Global Warming.
If you are creative with words, shouldn't take long to write this
Or write on what will happen when we trap all the heat with a layer of solid CO2 generated by man's folly and his factories, and the earth bakes in its own juices, people dying in terrible fiery ways, animals also.
That could be a very descriptive way to end life on earth as we know it.
But if you are talking reality, much more of a problem, since life has persisted, even man, through very wide temperature extremes, with the "Global" temperature varying from 10-30 degrees below what we have now, for 10's of thousands of years, to about what is the maxed out predicted now by the various computer models, in the natural variations of past glacial cycles as they are plotted in some of the graphs to support Global Warming.
IF the temperature rises to where nothing we do can keep our internal temperatures below 108 degrees F, then we will die of Global Warming.
Another possible scenario: A bunch of ambitious politicians with old axes to grind get together with many scientists ambitious to publish and computer experts anxious to try new and unproven models, and hatch a scheme to use new computers programmed to show dangerous Global Warming.
The publicize this untested data, find a great public reaction, and they enlist members of many multinational corporations, and some help from the UN and heads of state who are non-scientific but ambitious and want to join this elite group in revising the world their enlightened way.
They enlist the government-run educational systems to publicize their theories based on computerized data even to the youngest in schools, as "educational" and "scientific", and they get laws passed to impede normal life, making transportation difficult and a hobby of the rich, and to prevent man from expanding, trapping man more and more in cities being made hotter and hotter by radiation, and chemicals sent aloft to change the atmospheric heat absorption, as well as engineering to reduce the CO2 trappers, such as reducing the variety of plant life under guises of helping the carbon cycle.
Eventually the sweltering, trapped, disarmed humans revolt, yearning for life with liberty, and meet the armed and scientifically trained in slaughter soldiers of the Consolidation, who systematically obliterate the rebellious life. But they go too far, and miscalculate what it will take for them to survive, and without the massive population base to supply them, they expire of starvation, leaving the earth to cleanse itself, and re-establish life, sans humans.

In school I read an excerpt from a man named Walter Stegner. We had to do a perssuavive essay on it in my
AP class. It was actually a letter thatr Walter wrote to someone & it is called The Wilderness Letter..check it out.
It may have been in 1960 but it's very imformative & true.
Start with the children's tales of Chicken Little, the Emperor's New Clothes, the Boy Who Called Wolf, Stone Soup...
Modernize it for your audience.
If you want it to be fantastic...as from fantasy...try writing it from the perspective of something that could relate to it.
eg...a fish in a drying river...or...a tree on a hill...or something that is more imaginative than my suggestions.
Why don't you write a fantastic essay on why Global warming dosen't exist?
It would peak my interest if one of you global warming freaks decided to change your beliefs and get a grip on reality and write about something useful.
