Can i recycle used, scratched CDs? If so, where?

I'm looking to send them somewhere to be processed, not to make something new and inevitably shiny out of them by myself.

My local recycling center doesn't take CDs.
:(

Answer:
I heard a rumor that if you get tooth paste THE PASTEY KIND and spred it smoothly on your scratched cd and let it sit for 5min. Then rinse it off and dry it that your scratches will be gone!
I dont have an answer, but have you checked with you local office supply store? They might be able to help you with a place you can send them to. Good luck! ~M~
Well, I would like to recommend you to take a look at this
webpage: http://www.discsfordogs.org/
Maybe you will find their offer quite interesting.
have a look at this link,

http://www.climal.com/cd-dvd-recycling.p...

at the moment there only appears to be 3 centres in the UK that can do something with them.

Also if your discs have sensitive data on them use a very stiff wire brush or sanding disc to to really damage the recordable surface :)
Hi
Yes you can recycle any amount by sending them to Polymer Reprocessors.

http://www.polymer-reprocessors.co.uk/...

I have checked with and they have said to just pop them in the post to them.

Polymer Reprocessors Limited
Reeds Lane
Moreton, Wirral
CH46 1DW
Telephone: +44 (0)151 707 3684
Fax: +44 (0)151 709 7336

Hope this helps. I wish I'd known about them when AOL used to bombard me with cds trying to get me to sign up!

Alternatively, you could put them on freecycle to see if any gardeners want them as bird scarers.

well check out this website www.greendisks.com its the only site that i know of that actually recycles your old cds and other types of media.
Send them to your local special school for children with learning difficulties. I use them for mobiles to for children with poor sight and sensory impairments. They make attractive decorations.
A previous poster suggested GreenDisk which is a great suggestion! He got the webpage wrong though, it's www.greendisk.com.
I personally use old CD's in the garden. I hang them in the fruit trees to keep the birds away from eating the ripening fruit.

I've also seen clocks made with them as the backboard.

A local school would like them for their craft work in Art.
