What are the most effective yet simple ways millionaires can save energy?

Answer:
Use LED lights in place of all light bulbs. Turn down thermostats in houses not being used. Use solar power panels to heat swimming pools. ride bike cross country or run instead of taking personal plane. Many measures that we all can take, just on a grander scale.
Turn of lights, take less trips, pay their taxes, don't buy so many cars, learn more about how to protect the environment. use biodegradable products.
Downsize their homes, and extravagent lifestyles. Get vehicles that have better emissions, and use space more wisely. Plant more trees on their property and encourage saving instead of waste. Quit wasting money on overpriced items and things they only use once or twice. For instance Damon Dash (music exec) wears each pair of socks and undershirts once and then throws them away. Why not donate those to a homeless shelter??
Using less electricity, more energy efficient products, and solar power or other fuel sources since they can afford it.
- don't buy as many cars, and have the cars they have be hybrids or anything that doesn't hurt the environment
- since they are millionaires they could very well afford to buy solar houses
- recycle
- don't have a lot of electronics on at a time
- don't have electronics on that they don't need on
- donated to something that helps save energy
Live very simple.
Since they are in the position to do it, they should aggressively and publicly set good examples.

When I lived in Key West there was a wealthy iconoclast who turned his back yard into a tracking solar installation. He powered his entire property and ultimately half the block around him. There was no reason for Key West not to embrace solar... it's bright and sunny year round. But the local power people sued him... eventually he produced so much energy it backed into their grid, and he countersued, demanding they pay him for the energy they were getting from his installation. He continued his fight against the stupidity of the powers that be until his death, at which point his sh+t for brains yuppie son inherited the house, shut down the solar installation and then went on to be a famous coke snorting corrupt politician in the area.

Shows to go you.

The real danger isn't super-wealthy people. There aren't enough of them to matter. The culprits are the idiotic conformist middle class yuppie idiots who embrace the status quo.

To be honest, most of the twenty and thirty something upwardly mobiles I've encountered are the vilest and most selfish people, propelling us ever deeper into the environmental mess in the pursuit of status and excessive waste. Sadly, there are plenty of these clowns.
GIVE ME YOUR MONEY AND I WILL SAVE MONEY AND ENERGY! Can you change a light bulb? Buy a fuel effecient vehicle? Turn off lights when you are not in a room?Tell your land scaper to recycle mulch and use only perennials instead of annuals in your flower garden. Purchase environmentally friendly clothes and shoes - every little thing matters. How do you become a millionaire without a lick of cents?
add solar panels to your home
"green" lightbulbs
extra isnulation
energy star items
hybrid cars
home-grown foods (small garden type thing)
electric cars
electric lawnmowers
electric over gas
I think the most effective way is for them to use their influence to convert others. The construction industry, heating and cooling homes represent almost 50 percent of our energy consumption. Building a "green" building with great insulation and conservation capabilities is the best way to help us revert global warming!
By giving up the millionaire life style. The private jet uses way more fuel than any other kind of transport. The 20,000 square foot house uses 10 times the power that a 2,000 square foot house would. And so on. Every dollar produced buy the US economy requires the use of 2.5 kilowatt hours of energy. Less dollars, less energy. It is as simple as that. That is the reason so many people fight against so many environmental issues. Because they are a direct attack on their wealth.
DO what they Tell US to do.
Walk the Walk NOT Talk the Talk.
They can invest in many companies alone.
Fund the Hydrogen Hwy
Fund Bullet RR Train or Mag Lev RR.
etc.

Be Creative, Think ahead, Hire fwd thinking people.
Invest, Invest, Invest
Live the Lifestyle.

Then well follow suit
stop buying mansions!
Fly less. Fly on public airlines. Drive less. Drive a more efficient car. Make sure your home(s?) are energy efficient. Be a trend-setter.build a smaller, groovier and far more energy-efficient house the next time you build. Use CF lighting and turn your lights off. Donate some money to your area schools for energy and environmental education. Invest in "green" apartment or condo projects.
