Can we recycle oils used for cooking, at home, in restaurants, garages etc, to be collected weekly?

Household waste is collected as well as garden waste and recycling material such as tins, papers and glass etc. Can't we do the same with oils to recycle for re-use to power our cars?

Answer:
It is possible, but the main issue is there has to be enough of it so it's economically feasible. It isn't worth enough money to pick it up from homes unless there is a strong supply and strong demand - which means there has to be a biodiesel or grease recycling plant in the area. Keep an eye on Berkeley and San Francisco to see if this takes off.
there are some companies collecting oil from restaurants (like Darling Int'l) and motor oil is commonly recycled from auto shops.
Yes, Where my wife works somebody comes and collects it for recycling. I'm not sure what it is recycled into though.
My family has a deep fryer, in which we do turkeys and whatnot on special occasions, and we figured out away to reuse the peanut oil that we use. All that's really required is to strain it someway or another and I'm sure that would fine as well. And truely, I have heard of some guy somewhere that has taken the oil from his restaurant to power his little car. He's using it, so let's all use our American ingenuity!
It's called Bio-Fuel. You take the grease, strain it and you can use it to run any diesel engine. This technology has been around since 1900 and Rockefeller talked the country out of using it after World War 1.

I'd love to know where to buy it, too!
We did in WWII ,we just saved it and took it to the butcher when we got the jar full.
