Global Warming: Interesting/boring? why?

I want to talk about Global Warming in the Oral exam which we are allowed ot prepare beforehand for. I know that alot of people are going to speak on this topic. So does anyone have any interesting facts about global warming so that i can engage the examiner's interest? And if you find Global Warming boring, why? Thank you! Plzzz give in answers by Wednesday - Singapore time GMT + 8 , 6.00 a.m . Thank you. =)

Answer:
Although it doesn't directly answer your question, I would suggest you find a new topic. If there will be several presentations on this subject in a classroom setting you run a very high risk of boring even those interested in Global Warming.

No matter how many interesting facts you find, if you are the fifth or sixth speaker on this topic most will have tuned out by then. So I would encourage you, if you have the ability, to find a new topic.

Personally I find the topic interesting, but if I had to listen to several students give speeches on the subject I would probably have tuned out by the end of the second speech. Keep in mind (I don't know if the news over in Singapore is any different) that people are bombarded by global warming news on the television, on the internet, and numerous other places everyday. Consequently, much of your audience will have tuned out before you even begin speaking.

If you were going down the freeway in a one-wheeled canoe and your walls fell off, how many pancakes would it take to cover your doghouse?
Man made global warming doesn't exist. It just a way for the globalists to get more money from us.
There are loads of facts. I'll give you a few

CO2 is not the main greenhouse gas, it's water vapour at 95%.
The earths climate is always changing and is never stable.
solar effects are not included in any global warming models, which is stupid as they have a much larger role in the climate.
it is not that the global warming is interesting or boring. it is SCARRING TO THE WORLD, MADE BY THE HUMAN BEING.
you should discuss in your exam the concept that the global warming debate has been hijacked by mis-information and by those who do not fully understand the science behind the man made climate change hypothesis. Listen to all points of view but steer clear of any information not published in peer reviewed journals. And don't listen to morons who claim that scientists are bias because on the whole scientists are objective and base their theories on robust data unlike those who reject the AGW hypothesis based on lime ted information. In response to the answer above why dont you read the latest data that suggests that despite a reduction in cosmic ray intensity over the last 25 years average global surface and sea temperatures have continued to increase and that in the past temperature increases were noted before co2 increases with a lag of a couple of hundred years whereas now the co2 is leading the temp.
You can talk about radiative forcing, and an easy to understand concept will help. Basically, it is the amount of radiation that reaches the Earth, and the amount that leaves it and the factors influencing it. Some are greenhouse gases, ice caps that reflect light (~85%), and how changing climate affects this factors. For instance, the heating of the Earth causes those ice caps to decrease in size and this takes away that reflective surface. Water instead absorbs about 85% of the solar radiation.
You can give an historical account for CO2's role in the climate. How CO2 has previously been released by an initial temperature rise caused by natural cycles and therefore has shown a lag after the temperature rise. The increased heat has released vast storages of GHG's which has amplified the heating effect. Now, when humans release CO2, its role has changed to both a cause, and an amplifier. This is shown by, among other things, the simultanious rise of CO2 and temperature levels that we presently see. And, as a serious note, you could tell them how the storages, and other amplifying effects, are in risk of 'kicking in'. This would cause an escalation of the climate change and it would take control of the developement. This is known as the 'tipping point', and is something that we should try to avoid. Hope this helps.
Here is the IPCC 4th report, which extensively, and comprahensibly, covers radiative forcing.

I agree with Amy H that the most interesting thing about global warming is global warming denial. In other words, climate scientists have issued an unambiguous warning that by burning fossil fuels, we may be putting the entire world into very great danger over the next few centuries. Clearly, this is something that everyone should be concerned about, and one would think that the normal human response would be to ask "OK, what do we do now? What can I do to help? How can we solve this problem with minimal bad side effects?". Instead, many people react by irrationally attacking the scientific argument. The scientific argument is complex, and there are areas of uncertainty, but the possiblility of very great danger to our great-great-grandchildren is absolutely clear. The deniers cannot be persuaded even by correct scientific arguments, and are continually making up pseudo-scientific counter-arguments that make no sense, or are based on incorrect or improperly-selected data. Why do they do this? How can they be made to understand that their behavior may bring terrible death and destruction to the world?
Why don't you talk about the history of the theory? It really is quite fascinating whether you accept global warming or not, and it'll give everyone in the audience something to think on.

i just recently watched the inconvenient truth. that talks a whole lots about global warming. global warming IS happening right now... people say that the outcome is extremely odd and violent weather. hurricanes are getting bigger, its getting hotter in areas, colder in others, tornadoes have been observed spinning in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION! although the earth might be experiencing weird weather, it has been observed that the other planets are also experiencing strange weather. Jupiter and Saturn have been studied and the scents explained that the weather is ad normal. this means earth might not be suffering BECAUSE of global warming but something else. the whole solar system is experienceing strange weather. the cause of this might be abnormal solar activity. this is very interestingggg
interesting because it causes storm
global warming is more then just of an interest ,it she be a great concern because it will affect us period.
The raising of cattle for beef consumption causes more global warming than all of the cars exhaust on this planet. It starts with thousands of sq. miles being cut down of tropical rainforest to raise much of the cattle. Then the amount of methane gas(a global warming gas) that is expelled by cattle. 100 million tons of methane gas a year just in the U.S. alone. The amount of water to raise these cattle is beyond belief also. It takes about 20 acres of land a year to supply the protein a person needs by eating beef and over 2500 gallons of water. For a vegetarian it takes 1 acre of land to supply the protein they need for one year and about 40 gallons of water. Stop eating beef and you will be doing more to stop global warming than many other opitions.
This world is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Real Wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies.
Rivers and seas boiling!
40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos.
The dead rising from the grave.
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats, living together... mass hysteria!
