Wow. what a question. First of all religion is not always based on religious belief, it's based on what you want to believe by your very own definition of religion. Not everyone interprets religion as cited in websters dictionary. Likewise with Muslims. They often believe their own intepretation and the stronger ones or ones in power intepret it and teach it so that it sways towards the power or whatever they want.
Christians do the same. We see it all the time. Our leaders talk the bible and use the military to gain and control what they want (oil) however its all about terrorism, ya right.
Now take the issue of climate change, we know the climate is changing and all accounts of history will show that it has always been changing. The earth seems to be warming up (like the f--king sun the burns litterally billions of watts dosent have anything to do with it) ya right.
Now here was the opportunity for someone where someone with influence could go on a marketing scam and make millions. Whats ironic about the whole thing is they blamed the common people and have constantly put the guilt on them. The corporate keeps getting rich (with all the backing from the political powers) and puts the blame on us. I bought a refrigerator (westinghouse) and a few years later it had a heat stroke. In order to get rid of it, I had to pay extra to have someone clean out all the freon. Where did the corporate and their backers get off the hook by selling me a product without telling me I was getting a long term liability. This whole BS about environmental problems is mostly a marketing scam to put more burdon on the common tax payers and to get the public parinoid and scared into supporting all the initiatives so a few can get richer. Its absolutely sickening. Its not about science or religion. The BS
belief that scientists and politicans are brainwashing us with is crazy. (God is love, love is blind, Ray Charles was blind, SOOOO, Ray Charles was god). Our Gores and others are using this logic to convince everyone that the common person is responsible for all this BS and therefor we must agree with special taxes, paying for disposing what they classify as environmentally unsafe products and the like. I don't see them going after the coorporate and telling them to pay for it and to take the profit out of their Market Shares, OH no.
Take Iraq, the only thing holding up getting the elections done right and having a independent free country is the decision to give the US a certain portion of all their oil exports in order to fund for the investment we have provided in military support. OH get real, and who do you suppose has family ties into where these oil profits would go. I think I'll run for president and use our ammunition to build my bank account.
Just my opinion based on scientific and religious facts I have personally seen, tasted, and experienced all my like.

Religion is based upon faith, climatology is based upon science. They are quite separate. Most people do not see it as a religion, this is more used by skeptics avoiding to meet scientific facts. Dragging in political belonging, and religion isn't convincing for your arguments. I think this sort of thing is based in the different views and agendas of those involved.
Some have made this in to an assault on Al Gore/Democrats and then made the counter argument that this is a democratic propaganda scare tactic.
Others have money to gain from keeping business as usual. Then came counter accusations that the proponents of AGW do it for profit (funding/carbon credits).
Tactics are based upon creating illusions of non-consensus, placing the burden of proof on the proponents side, and making accusations.
I have no problem with opposing views being shows as long as they have a scientific base. Just doing it for attention, political views, or monetary benefits, in such an important question, is highly immoral.
I hope this site can be educational, and with well founded sources.

If it isn't a religion I don't know what is.

No, it's actually science. If you don't believe in science, that's your problem, but do not claim that science is religion.
