Why do you think recycling is beneficial? and why do you think people don't recycle as much as they should be?

These questions are part of an assignment for a class.

Answer:
It saves energy as it requires a lot less energy to recycle something than it does to make it from scratch, also the earth's resources are finite and if we keep just burying rubbish, those resources are gone....unless someone is willing to dig them up!
I think that some people don't recycle for a number of reasons; like there are not the facilities (where I live, we cannot recycle card), people are unable to take the items to a recycling park (we don't have kerbside collections either), ignorance (some people don't know, especially older people), laziness and defiance... some people don't do it because we are told that we should!! (sad but true)
If it saves me money, it's beneficial. How do you know how much people should recycle. I suspect most people recycle just as much as is appropriate for their situation.
When you don't recycle, more things like trees and fossil fuels are used up to create new products. When we recycle, we don't use up these things but we reuse them. We dont recycle like we should be because maybe we think that everybody else is recycling and that if one person doesn't recycle it won't make a difference in the world.
To re-use stuff in the original, or other use, is nothing new, and is born out of necessity, and resourcefulness. Recycle today is no more than token, and is far less than 100% plus wastefull in energy.
it's beneficial b/c u use less raw and virgin materials and reuse items such as aluminum or glass which can be recycled an infinate number of times without having to mine for them

ppl dont recycle as much either b/c they're lazy or dont care

lazy in the sense to take them to the recycling center or designate a place for it at home
actually the proccess of recycling most items is worse for the enviroment than using virgin product, except in very few cases, aluminum being one...all the other things like paper are subsidized by the government because it cost more money to recycle and it's harder on the enviroment, all the extra machine used to recycle them use more energy than virgin product...you never see people taking paper to recycling centers and getting cash for it, but aluminum, they do..why do you think that is?
Ignorance. Laziness. When I am forced to go to the tip I always tell people there about freecycle. I am also going to get in touch with my local council and ask them to put up a sign at the local tip informing would be tippers that freecycle exists. They will of course think that I am looney and need a straight jacket!
Reduces waste..people can't be bothered that simple... ones that do they do it well ..as long as facilities available ...
Recycling is beneficial because it cuts down on trash dramatically. Also, it can help a family in need, if you were to take a box of old toys, or clothing to a shelter or salvation army or even post it on freecyle.org, you are helping a family in need, rather than helping pile up the landfills even faster.
people don't recycle as much as they should because it is more "convenient" to just throw it out in the trash pile. to put it bluntly, people are just lazy!
I feel better giving my items away on frecycle insted of throwing away or putting on ebay. I look for the people who need the item the most (and pray they are not lying) and give to them.
i dont know whay anyone would not give unless to greedy
The answer to your first question is, I don't. Recycling is a dirty process in which only about 10% or less of the material is acutually used (i.e. a bottle that has the recycled sign with an number in it means it was made out of recycled material, but only about 10% or less of that material was recycled into that bottle, the other 90%+ is new material.) And it cause loads of air pollution to heat up plastic, metal, and glass to melt it down to be reformed.

Most people don't recycle because it is incovient.
I don't recycle because I am an evil republican bent on destroying the earth. That's not laziness,it's determination!
