Global Warming?

Do you or do you know anyone that will actually help try to stop Global Warming?

Answer:
I just read about this website on the Wall Street Journal: Carbon Diet Plan. It is an application that can put us on a 'carbon diet'. As an individual and friends, we can make an impact on global warming 1 lb at a time.

You can't stop Global warming. Man is seriously pewney compared to mother nature. We will start to cool within 10 years anyway, don't worry.
Democratic candidates all pledge to enact laws to stop it. I think it has been allowed to continue for too long. The greenhouse gasses are out of control. Some people do not even believe that it is happening. They refuse to see differences in climate, water disasters (like that associated with Katrina and Rita) as anything people can fix. But the truth is we know that there are many factors people can do something about that do cause the greenhouse gasses to increase. I live near Seattle. There is a lake here called Green Lake. My mother lived near Green Lake as a child. Everyone in her neighborhood had ice skates so that when Green Lake froze over (as it did every single year) they could skate on it. Now, that lake never freezes over. I have only seen ice on it once in all my life. If that's not warming, I don't know what is. It is a problem. I would say, vote for the candidate who at least addresses the issue because too many of them have their heads in the sand.
No. But I must admit, I know very few people who are that shallow. People who will blindly go along with anything that sounds good on the surface without looking at the cost. The only way to stop global warming is to stop all burning of fossil fuels worldwide. In order to make sure that happens, we would have to give total control to the United Nations[it has already started because they are the only ones who issue carbon certificates now]. I am not quite ready to go that far.
You cannot stop what has already happened for over 30 years and will continue to for the next 200. We can only do two things: stop adding to the problem and prepare for the worst.
Well, because global warming is basically a scare tactic brought about by politicians, I think it's safe to say I won't be doing much for the cause.

It's about time people understood that not all the experts agree the earth is doomed.
Sorry but I am getting tired of discussing and arguing about global warming.Anyone like you do help keep people aware,so now I do know someone who actually helps, you!
Other than God... no one... Anyone that says different is a liar or a fool... most likely both. In order to make significant changes in the so called carbon foot print of humankind one would have to nearly exterminate the race from the planet and knock the rest back to a near stone age existence. Adapting to changing conditions is much more logical and doable.
Do some research. Not on the Internet but in a library where you can access contemporary literature in peer reviewed journals. Unless you fully understand it you will be unable to stop it because stopping it would involve the global acceptance of the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis and the rejection on the null that it doesn't exist. The fact is that it is happening. Its happening faster than it has as far as we know. Its warmer now than it has been for 650 million years and for the first time co2 increases are leading global temperatures thus counting out natural cycles that are related to the suns intensity which has resulted in an increase in temperature which years later through complex ecosystem interactions releases vast quantities of carbon from the ocean which intensifies warming until the suns intensity is reduced and the increased cloud activity reflects more sunlight. Usually it happens slowly because water which is very reluctant to heat or cool takes a long time to respond to increases or decreases in temperature. People as a whole have to change the way they think and act otherwise nothing will happen. Possibly global warming will devastate our way of life and destroy pollution emitting infrastructure thus stopping the release of carbon but the only problem is if the ocean dies or trees die more carbon will be emitted and temps will then runaway with no way of stopping it.
We cannot stop Global Warming. Even those researchers who back the (false) idea that Global Warming is largely a manmade event have acknowledged that it is now a "runaway engine" that we will not stop.

However Global Warming is NOT (repeat NOT) a manmade event. The worldwide consortium of scientists who currently support the idea that it is manmade count among them very few meteorologists, climatologists or planetologists. Instead they consist primarily of other, unrelated, disciplines such as archeology, sociology and geology. Few scientists knowledgeable on the subject witll counter the idea today because it has become a political hot button and, therefore, career suicide for any scientist to disagree with the politically correct position. However there has been, from the beginning, a small group of courageous scientists (most of them American), knowledgeable in the relevant areas, who have spoken out from the beginning against the idea. The reason is simple.

We generate only a small fraction of the carbon dioxide that is annually produced on this planet. The oceans produce the greatest share (as much as 70%) and ocean production is increasing because the temperature is increasing. The temperature is increasing because the sun is getting warmer. The sun is going thru a warming phase. A cycle that predates humanity and that has been with us thruout our history. The Roman Empire reached it's peak during such a warming cycle when global annual average temps may have been as much as 5 degrees hotter than now! That's quite an increase and close to what has been predicted for the peak of this cycle which started in the mid 19th century... at exactly the time when records show the Earth began to warm. As the Earth warms under the increased radiation from the Sun the oceans warm. As the oceans warm they produce more CO2 which, in turn, makes things warmer. This cycle will continue until the Sun reverses it's cycle and starts to cool (in about 50 to 100 years) at which time the trend will reverse. Just as it has always done in the past (the heart of the so called Dark Ages fell at one of the coldest points in this cycle).

The only thing we can do is just what we have ALWAYS done during these cycles in the past... adapt. And we will.
I developed TAGP(tm) to address global warming, you should adopt it as soon as possible.
If it existed.
