Why did a eagle I saw flying drop a catfish instead of eating it? The fish was about a foot in length.?

Answer:
The eagle may not have had a good grip OR the weight of the catfish was too much for it. The eagle cannot judge the weight before snagging the fish. He may go back and try again.
Have you ever tried catfish?.....Yuk
The eagle may have had a bad grip. The fish is usually still struggling, mind you, and may have wriggled just enough to get loose.

Either that or it's a picky eagle.
Lost it's grip or suddenly decided it did'nt actually like fish, or felt sick or the fish put up a good fight.
Birdbrained.
