In order to stop Global Warming we need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions world wide to less than one tenth of what they are today.
To accomplish that we would have to shut down all of the economies of the world.
We would need to bn the use of all automobiles, motorscooters, motorcycles, buses, trucks, trains, planes and shipping.
Next we would need to shut down all manufacturing, steel making and cement making.
Next we would need to ban the heating and air conditioning of all homes, offices and factories.
Next we would need to ban the cooking of all food and the heating of all water for washing ans bathing.
We would need to learn to bathe in cold water.
Next we woul need to shut down the genration of all electricity by the use of fossil fuels.
We would need the cooperation of all countries world wide.
This past week I had the opportunity to meet with a group of officials from The People's Republic of China and a group of officials and businesspeople from the United States.
One of the officials from the United States brought up the issue of Global Warming and the need for The People's republic of China to reduce it carbon dioxide emissions.
The officials from The People's Republic of China were very offended and stated very clearly that they would not reduce their carbon dioxide emissions and in fact would be increasing them by a substantial amount because they need to grow their economy.
The Peple's Republic alone emits enough carbon dioxide to cause Global Warming even if you were to manage to get every other country on this planet to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions to zero.
Essentially we cannot stop Global Warming, it is a fact of our modern existence.
Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming.
The sea levels will rise. We need to help the affected countries with dike systems similar to those in Holland to hold back the sea.
Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We need to help the affected countries upgrade their disaster preparedness systems for hurricanes.
There will be more droughts. We need to help the affected countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.
We cannot stop Global Warming but we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now.
Step it UP We want a carbon Tax,Carbon tax on internet, it would increase gas $3.00 a gallon increase food and goods because of shipping cost .and a increase in electric 1/3 higher,so I believe if it is a problem lets fix it by Shut off all electric 6 days a week,only drive car one day a week, only turn water on city for 2 hours a day, We have to save earth mandatory prison in dark cell, SAVE the EARTH get SERIOUS,
Save the planet?
The planet is a giant rock floating in space.
It has thousands of different forces interacting and pulling at it on a constant basis. it is being pulled and pushed, squeezed and crushed by the natural forces of the universe.
It has survived thousands of not millions of asteroid and meteor strikes.
It has riped its own surface from a fat cluster of land into several independent bodies.
it's seen earth quakes, solar flares, killer meteors, typhoons, gravitational changes, and on and on and on.
Despite surviving billions of years through all the trial and tribulations of its birth and its development, only NOW it is in danger? because of us tiny insignificant pieces of amino acid compounds called humans?
My goodness we humans are egotistical creatures aren't we.
The planet can not be destroyed by us humans, not yet in any case. Can we destroy our environment? sure, but we could NEVER destroy out planet, it is currently physically impossible to do.
And who says the planet needs saving? from what? It gets to hot? Earth was much hotter and wetter 65 million years ago and life existed.
afraid we will start a another ice age? the world has been a lot colder and life survived.
so please explain to me how the planet needs to be saved.
The only thing that needs saving is us from our egos.
BTW I can show you dramatic evidence of sudden climate change in our human history. Look up "the little ice age" read about the dramatic climate change that occurred 500 years BEFORE industrialization.
just change your lightbulbs..that's all you need to do...i know, i watched live earth..we just have to do tiny little infintesimal things and it will all come together and cool off the planet. just use one square of toilet paper to wipe with too. cheryl crow says so. also buy only gm cars, they advertised on the concert. also only buy general electric stuff. we can save the world!

we need to start using fluorescent lights. If everyone in the world bought 4 fluorescent lights, we would save a lot of energy. Also recycle paper, bottles and cans, and cardboard. At some grocery stores, you can buy bags that you can reuse, and they only cost like 1.00 each. Reusing those instead of taking paper bags really saves energy. Use less electricity by turning off the lights when nobody is in the room. If you watched LIVE EARTH they told you what you should do. If not, just do some of or all of the things on this list, and you can really help the environment!

I do not believe we can save the planet until we restore all of the natural waterways to their pristine condition. We have built dams, canals, reservoirs and chaos in the world. Nature always takes back what belongs to her and we will suffer and die until we give it back. Just my personal theory.
